The awful final moments of Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ life have been made public.

The dancer’s death was confirmed by tWitch’s wife, Alison Holker Boss, in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE. She made no mention of the reason for his passing, but the Los Angeles medical examiner revealed on Tuesday that he committed suicide in a hotel.

The manager of the motel where the “So You Think You Can Dance” alum slept and was discovered dead recalled his final moments, even though additional details regarding his passing are not yet public knowledge.

The management of the Oak Tree Inn claimed in a statement to Radar Online that tWitch booked into the hotel on Monday without a car. His Los Angeles house is only a 14-minute walk from the building. When he checked in the day before his passing, he was said to not have appeared “upset.”

He did not appear to be in any difficulty when he arrived at the motel, according to staff, and he was just carrying a tiny suitcase. Police have subsequently taken his possessions, and it’s possible that his suicide note was in the bag.

tWitch allegedly reserved the hotel for one night, but he did not leave by the scheduled time of 11 a.m. The management then sent his maid to check on the dancer, who was discovered dead in the restroom.

The manager contacted 911 right away after witnessing the horrific scenario. He may have shot himself somewhere, but no gunshots were apparently heard in the vicinity.

In a moving tribute to their family’s “backbone,” his wife wrote a statement.

To say that he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his beneficial influence will still be felt, according to Allison. “There won’t be a day that goes by that we don’t remember him, I’m positive of that. During this trying moment for myself and especially for our three kids, we kindly request your privacy.”

As a contestant on the MTV program “The Wade Robson Project,” tWitch began his professional life. After finishing second on “Star Search,” he famously joined “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2008.

He finished as the runner-up at the time. tWitch later made a comeback as an All-Star. When the competition returned to television this year, he acted as a judge.

He performed as a guest DJ on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in the years between those stints. In 2020, he was elevated to co-executive producer, and he continued to co-host the program until its cancellation this year.
