Actor and boxer Cedric ‘Beastie’ Jones is well known for several acting roles. He starred in films including “Emancipation” and “The Terminal List.” He also founded a gym in Manhattan Beach, California, and started a foundation called BMoved, which strived to help young men overcome hard times to graduate high school and, in some cases, go on to college.
Jones’s gym has shared the sad news that Jones has died. He was only 46 years old. A cause of death has not yet been disclosed publicly.
A GoFundMe started on behalf of Jones’ family described Jones as “a loving father, devoted husband, caring son, brother, community leader, and incredible friend who inspired others.”
The fundraiser also described Jones as “a man on a mission. A mission to help young boys become men and leaders in their communities. Through his BMoved foundation, Cedric helped countless boys and their families through hardship. Providing a safe space with numerous free resources, he supported and believed in each of these boys, supporting them to graduate from high school, and for many, become the first in their families to graduate with a university degree.”
Jones is survived by his wife, Barbie, and their three children. The goal of the fundraiser is to help support Jones’ family. At the time of publication, the fundraiser has raised $50,000 of the $135,000 goal.
Upon hearing the news of Jones’ death, “Emancipation” director Antoine Fuqua shared a video in honor of his friend’s death. In the video, Jones is praying, thanking God for his wife, kids and life.
In honor of Jones, and as a form of memorial service, Jones’ wife organized an event where her late husband’s supporters ran from Beastie Gym to the Manhattan Beach pier. You can learn more about Jones’ life and see the honorary run in memory of Jones in the video below.
