In January, actor and Avengers star Jeremy Renner almost lost his life. The near-fatal accident happened near Renner’s home. He was worried that a snow removal machine was going to hurt his nephew, so he risked his own life to save his nephew. In the process, he suffered multiple injuries, including broken ribs, a broken knee, and a broken shoulder. He was crushed.
Now, Renner has physically recovered, and he knows he is lucky to be alive. As a result, he is living life without “fat” in it. He told CNN:
“I just feel very blessed and very lucky to be upright and walk around and to live life.” He added, “I’m very, very clear. My life is really lean, if that makes sense. There’s no fat in my life anymore. I don’t have time for that. So, there’s something really beautiful about having that superpower.”
Renner considers his time “more valuable” than he did before his accident, so he’s focusing on what he considers most important. One of those things is partnering with a brand of vodka called Sweet Grass vodka. Renner said, “I was really clear about how I want to spend my time, and who I want to spend my time with.”
He feels that Sweet Grass vodka is worthy of his time. He explained:
“This to me feels like family, sort of lifestyle things we talk about all the time. And then we have the spirit itself, it’s much more the shared experience. And that to me is where I want to spend my time.”
While most people probably wouldn’t see recovering from a near-fatal accident as a “gift,” Renner feels that the experience has certainly given him some gifts, such as seeing his life as “more valuable” and trimming the “fat” from his life. He says that other “gifts” he feels that he has been given are, “Perseverance. Strength. It’s all a mental game.” Renner continued, “I know how to deal with pain. It’s all mind. It’s all in the mind. If you can sift through the fog of it all, I am very blessed.”
