A stroke has left Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert F. Kennedy Sr., in the hospital recuperating from her condition, according to the announcement made by the renowned family.
According to a statement released by Joe Kennedy III on Tuesday, Ethel had a stroke while she was sleeping on Thursday. She was sent to a hospital, where she is now receiving treatment and is accompanied by her family.
Ethel Kennedy is said to be “comfortable” by the Kennedys, but they are still requesting that people keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
The 96-year-old woman had a wonderful summer and the beginning of autumn, during which she spent time with her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as going out to eat and being out on the lake in the weeks and months before to having the stroke, according to her family.
Ethel is the sister-in-law of John F. Kennedy, who served as President of the United States of America, and she is the mother of eleven children, including Kathleen, Joe, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
She was carrying a child at the time of John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1968, while he was campaigning for president, and she never remarried.
Ethel Kennedy established the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights nonprofit organization in his honor one year after the killing of John F. Kennedy.
Ethel is also a winner of the Congressional Medal of Freedom, which is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a citizen in the United States. This distinction was bestowed upon her in 2014, during the time that Barack Obama was serving as President.
