Big Ed’s romance ended almost as quickly as it began.
On Monday, Sept. 23, “90 Day Fiancé” star Ed Brown, 59, took to Instagram to reveal that he has called off his engagement to Porscha Raemond, 29, just one week after the TLC star proposed at a restaurant.
“After some deep reflection and discussions with those closest to me, I’ve realized that rushing into this decision wasn’t the right move,” he wrote, adding that he has “nothing but respect and love for Porscha.”
After announcing his break up in an Instagram Story, Big Ed posted a follow-up video.
“Love is a crazy thing… I did something that was impulsive, I asked this girl to marry me and after considering… It’s too soon and it’s not really what I want, obviously,” the reality star explained in a video.
Big Ed described the romance as a “whirlwind and admittedly, a very impulsive moment,” but thanked fans for their continued support and “for sticking by me.”
Big Ed met Porscha just one week ago during a paid appearance at a Capriotti’s sandwich shop in Florida. She walked into the shop, walked up to him, gave him a hug, and even a kiss on the cheek.
The two hit it off immediately and he eventually asked her if she wanted to hang out the following night.
He had no plans of proposing to her that night, but he was encouraged by a friend and made the move after the restaurant manager made him a makeshift engagement ring out of a paperclip.
“Everyone goes crazy,” he said in an interview with Page Six. “I said, ‘Look, I never want to let you go, I think I’ve met the one. I want to marry you.’ And she said yes.”
He described meeting Porscha as “love at first sight” and described her as his “dream girl.”
The moment was caught on video, and shared on TMZ. Comments were quick to point out that the proposal seemed forced and staged, but he ensured his fans that it was the real deal.
Big Ed first gained fame on season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days in 2020. He has appeared on seven different 90 Day Fiancé franchise shows in the four years since and is one of its biggest stars.
The 59-year-old has now been engaged four times, including two that were chronicled on the show.
Big Ed was married to Sandra Heckman decades before becoming famous, but the couple split in 1992 due to infidelity. It wasn’t until 30 years later that he first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé.
He was engaged to Rose Vega at the start of his fame, but they broke up and he quickly moved on to Liz Woods, who was a manager at his favorite restaurant. The two were together for several years, but were involved in a tumultuous relationship that saw them break up and reconcile more than a dozen times.
