Many people have gotten Covid since the pandemic began. In fact, many people have had it multiple times, but not every celebrity who has had it has opened up about their personal experience.
Actor Al Pacino recently opened up about his experience with Covid, and itโs quite extreme. In fact, he says that he actually died.
The actor sat down for an interview for The New York Times podcast โThe Interviewโ in order to promote his new memoir titled โSunny Boy.โ During the interview the topic turned to Covid.
Pacino shared that during the pandemic he actually did get Covid. He explained that it started by him feeling unwell, but then, he actually died. He said, โI was sitting there at my house, and I was gone. Like that.โ Pacino added, โI didnโt have a pulse.โ
It didnโt take long for the paramedics to arrive. He explained, โIn a matter of minutes, I guess, or whatever it took, they were there.โ He said, โI had about six paramedics in that living room, and there were two doctors, and they had these outfits that looked like they were from outer space or something.โ

When Pacino gained consciousness, he was startled to see all of the doctors. He explained, โIt was kind of shocking to open your eyes and see that. I opened my eyes and everybody was around me โ the first time thatโs ever happened.โ
The doctors were also startled, but in a good way. Pacino explained that they said, โHeโs back. Heโs here.โ
While Pacino may have had a near death experience or even a brief experience of actually being dead, it wasnโt a situation where he crossed over to the other side and remembered anything profound. He said, โI didnโt see the white light or anything like that.โ
The experience did impact the way Pacino looks at life, or rather the way he looks at death. Since he didnโt see a โwhite light or anythingโ he believes that death is the end. โItโs gone, youโre gone,โ he said. He added that he โdoesnโt likeโ thinking that death is the end and had never thought about it before his experience with Covid.
Perhaps thatโs part of the reason Pacino wrote his memoir, so that at least his memories will live on in book form. โSunny Boyโ went on sale on October 8, 2024.
