‘Naked & Afraid’ Star Passed Away At 34

Sarah Danser, former Naked and Afraid star, tragically passed away on Tuesday, October 22, following a car accident in Hawaii. She was 34. Danser, who appeared on the survival series in 2017, was fatally injured when the vehicle she was riding in lost control and collided with a parked car in the Kahala neighborhood of Honolulu, according to KSLA. The driver, a 59-year-old man, was reportedly behind the wheel during the accident.

Seated in the passenger seat, Danser was rushed to the hospital in critical condition; but, later died due to her injuries. The driver of the car remains hospitalized in serious condition. A woman inside the parked car at the time of the crash was hospitalized in serious condition, while a man in the same vehicle declined medical treatment. According to police, speed was likely a contributing factor, though drugs and alcohol were not involved.

Naked and Afraid is a popular reality television series on the Discovery Channel that takes survival challenges to the extreme. The show debuted in 2013 and follows pairs of strangers—one man and one woman—who are tasked with surviving in harsh wilderness environments for 21 days without clothes, food, water, or shelter.

Sarah Danser returned to Naked and Afraid for an all-stars season and more recently appeared on another reality show, Fight to Survive. At 34, Danser was a master diver, boat captain, survivalist, and a self-described “pirate.” Originally from Castle Rock, Colorado, Danser had been living in Hawaii for approximately 12 years, according to family members. Family members said she survived breast cancer twice, according to KSLA.

Sarah’s employer Island Divers Hawaii paid tribute to her in a Facebook post.

“Heavy hearts as we say goodbye to a good friend and great captain. Sarah brought such great energy to everyone she came in contact with. You will be greatly missed.”

Her father told KSLA “I actually saw how much of a difference she made in the lives of others,” her father Dan Danser said. “I think she saved my life once, diving in Indonesia.”

Rest In Peace.
