Come January next year, Donald Trump and Melania Trump are set to return to the White House. After a successful election last week, Donald Trump, along with Melania, will once again step into the roles of President and First Lady of the United States, succeeding Joe Biden and Jill Biden.
The relationship between these two families has been anything but smooth, with reports suggesting a longstanding history of tension, particularly between Melania and Jill. It’s no secret that Donald Trump has little affection for President Joe Biden. The much-publicized 2022 FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate seemed to heighten the animosity between Trump and Biden.
Previously, Melania Trump openly referred to the raid on their residence as an intrusive violation of their privacy. However, with Trump gearing up to return to the White House, it was anticipated that a customary meeting with Joe and Jill Biden would occur during the presidential transition period.
In a surprising twist, rumors are swirling that Melania plans to decline Jill Biden’s invitation. Throughout her husband’s recent run for presidency, Melania Trump maintained a low profile. She divided her time between New York and their Palm Beach, Florida residence, focusing primarily on their son, Barron, as he completed his high school education.
Despite her reserved demeanor, Melania did make a few appearances earlier in 2024 at select private events, including a significant fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago in September, where she reportedly earned over $230,000. However, she generally stayed out of the limelight during her husband’s campaign but re-emerged closer to the election day.
When Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States in 2020, Donald Trump exited the White House before Joe Biden’s arrival. Yet, in a shift this year, Trump accepted Biden’s invitation to join a meeting scheduled for Wednesday in the Oval Office. Nonetheless, the drama surrounding the First Ladies doesn’t seem to be subsiding.
According to several news outlets, Melania Trump is likely to refuse the traditional White House meeting with First Lady Jill Biden. Sources have told CNN that Melania’s decision is primarily due to her busy schedule linked to the release of her new memoir.
Meanwhile, efforts are reportedly being made to persuade Melania to reconsider attending the meet with Jill Biden. This reluctance might also hint at Melania’s approach during her forthcoming term as First Lady, suggesting she may carve out a role characterized by greater independence.
Yet, as shared by a source acquainted with Melania’s stance, the story doesn’t end there. The source told the NY Post, “Jill Biden’s husband authorized the FBI to rifle through her personal things,” alleging it as one of the reasons Melania holds a dim view of the Bidens. The source continued, “Melania feels she has no obligation to meet Jill Biden.”
The contentious FBI raid at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago property took place on August 8, 2022, resulting in the seizure of numerous classified documents and leading to criminal charges against Donald Trump.
