Kate Middleton ‘won’t return’ to the same royal role amid cancer

Prince William and Kate Middleton are eagerly anticipating a year brimming with opportunities. The year 2024 was particularly trying for the Prince and Princess of Wales due to Kate’s cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. These experiences have inevitably impacted not only them but also their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Amidst the challenges and hardships of the previous year, William and Kate emphasized their familial bonds, with the future king describing 2024 as a “dreadful” year.

Royal correspondent Rebecca English recently revealed that while Kate Middleton is set to return to her royal duties, it won’t be on the same scale as it was before her cancer diagnosis.

Now, a year on from Kate Middleton’s absence from the public eye starting in January 2024, signs are much more promising. Last autumn, she announced she was cancer-free, but she has chosen to take a slower pace, as one would expect.

Despite their significant roles within the Royal Family, Kate and her husband, Prince William, have always prioritized their children’s well-being. Throughout Kate’s cancer treatment and recovery, the couple made every possible effort to shield their children from negative influences. Even with their royal status and the understanding that Prince George will eventually be king, William and Kate strive to provide as normal a childhood as possible for their children.

“It’s very frightening for children”

The year 2024 was indeed challenging for the Royal Family. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis likely faced anxiety and uncertainty, possibly unaware of their mother’s condition or the implications of her battle with cancer. Consequently, Seward mentioned that William and Kate plan to ensure their children receive extra special experiences in 2025.

Although they envision a more typical life for their kids, royal responsibilities inevitably await them. As senior members of the Royal Family, the couple bears substantial duties.

Kate Middleton is “keen to prioritize her family even more”

It remains uncertain how and when Kate Middleton will increase her royal duties in the coming months. Whether she and William will embark on international trips together is also unclear. However, the past tumultuous period has provided them with a renewed perspective on life, potentially influencing Kate’s future priorities.

In an article for the Daily Mail, royal writer Rebecca English quoted sources indicating that William and Kate now have a markedly different outlook on life. She noted that the “trauma” of recent events has “changed” the Princess of Wales as an individual.

Kate Middleton to ‘prioritize children over royal duties,’ source claims

A reliable source suggested that Kate will not adhere to the same schedule she followed before her illness.

Rebecca English also relayed that Kate currently has “no plans—yet—for any full-scale foreign royal tours.” However, the princess “may accompany her husband on one short trip, should she feel ready.”

Simultaneously, William is poised to continue his royal engagements as expected and might even assume more responsibilities while his father, King Charles, undergoes his own cancer treatment. While William may travel abroad solo on brief trips, he is unlikely to commit to longer excursions, marking another symbol of Catherine’s progress.
