Two-time heavyweight champion and Olympic boxer George Foreman dead at 76

Legendary boxer, George Foreman, has died at the age of 76.

His family confirmed the devastating news inย a social mediaย post on Friday, March 21.

โ€œOur hearts are broken,โ€ Foremanโ€™s family began their statement. 

โ€œWith profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.โ€

The statement continued, calling Forman โ€œa devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.โ€

โ€œA humanitarian, an Olympian, and two time heavyweight champion of the world, he was deeply respected โ€” a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good nameโ€” for his family,โ€ the statement reads.

โ€œWe are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.โ€

In 1968, Foreman became an Olympic champion. Six years later, in 1974, Foreman took on Muhammad Ali.

Foreman lost in the 8th round when he was KOโ€™d by Ali.

After retiring at 28 years old, he became an ordained minister in Texas.
