Formerย Rock of Loveย contestant Kelsey Bateman has died unexpectedly at age 39, her family toldย TMZ.
Bateman, a Utah native, was just 21 when she appeared on the third and final season of the VH1 dating show in 2009. On the series, 23 women competed to win the heart of Poison frontman Bret Michaels.

She advanced to the top nine before being eliminated in the seventh episode after admitting on camera that she had gotten too โwasted,โ even confessing that she had โlaid on a speed bump and bawled her eyes outโ

Per theย New York Post, the rocker, now 62, acknowledged back then that life on the road wasnโt the best setting to start a serious relationship.
โAt some point I looked over during the concert and you were no longer there,โ he said to Bateman.
โAnd at some point you were laying on a speed bump talking saying you couldnโt handle this any longer. I think tonight the fact that you are are needing to be who you are not, the fact you need to drink this much?โ
โI think youโre awesome and a beautiful girl and I said sometimes I have to make decisions for people, and my decision for you is that Iโm going to let your tour end here,โ he added.
โSometimes I get drunk and lay on speed bumps itโs just you know,โ she said in the episode. โApparently Brett just canโt handle a girl that likes to get drunk and lay on speed bumps. I mean maybe heโs not used to it.โ
โIโm going to go home and Iโm going to be single Iโm not going to think about guys for a while but the next guy I find definitely wonโt be 44 and probably not a rock star.โ
In the finale, the musician chose Taya Parker as his girlfriend, but their romance didnโt last long.
Little is known about Batemanโs life after the show. As for Michaels, he has been married to Kristi Michaels since 2013. The two first met in 1994 and got engaged during the finale of his reality series Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.
They are parents to two daughters, Raine, 25, and Jorja, 20.
