Former Rock of Love contestant Kelsey Bateman has died unexpectedly at age 39, her family told TMZ.

Bateman, a Utah native, was just 21 when she appeared on the third and final season of the VH1 dating show in 2009. On the series, 23 women competed to win the heart of Poison frontman Bret Michaels.

She advanced to the top nine before being eliminated in the seventh episode after admitting on camera that she had gotten too “wasted,” even confessing that she had “laid on a speed bump and bawled her eyes out”

Per the New York Post, the rocker, now 62, acknowledged back then that life on the road wasn’t the best setting to start a serious relationship.

“At some point I looked over during the concert and you were no longer there,” he said to Bateman.

“And at some point you were laying on a speed bump talking saying you couldn’t handle this any longer. I think tonight the fact that you are are needing to be who you are not, the fact you need to drink this much?”

“I think you’re awesome and a beautiful girl and I said sometimes I have to make decisions for people, and my decision for you is that I’m going to let your tour end here,” he added.

“Sometimes I get drunk and lay on speed bumps it’s just you know,” she said in the episode. “Apparently Brett just can’t handle a girl that likes to get drunk and lay on speed bumps. I mean maybe he’s not used to it.”

“I’m going to go home and I’m going to be single I’m not going to think about guys for a while but the next guy I find definitely won’t be 44 and probably not a rock star.”

In the finale, the musician chose Taya Parker as his girlfriend, but their romance didn’t last long.

Little is known about Bateman’s life after the show. As for Michaels, he has been married to Kristi Michaels since 2013. The two first met in 1994 and got engaged during the finale of his reality series Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.

They are parents to two daughters, Raine, 25, and Jorja, 20.
