The FBI revealed a startling discovery on September 15 with the unearthing of a “shocking” note at the home of an accused assassin and his transgender partner. This evidence might explain the chilling motive behind the attempt to “take out” Charlie Kirk.
Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was tragically shot at Utah Valley University (UVU) during a Turning Point USA event on September 10. Just 33 hours later, authorities confirmed they had arrested a suspect.
Utah’s Governor, Spencer Cox, shared the news with the public in a statement, “We got him,” announcing the suspect had been captured.
Tyler Robinson, just 22, was apprehended on September 11 for the fatal attack on Kirk. The incident occurred while Kirk was delivering his speech on the UVU campus.
A Shocking Family Dilemma
Footage of the crime, complete with the suspect’s escape, was widely broadcast on television and shared across the internet. Dressed in a black T-shirt emblazoned with an eagle and an American flag, the alleged shooter is seen jumping from the roof of a UVU building shortly after the act. His face was obscured by dark sunglasses and a baseball cap as he made his escape into a nearby wooded area.
Among the viewers of this revelatory footage was someone who recognized him instantly—his own father.
“Tyler, is this you? This looks like you,” the father is reported to have asked his son, officials say.
According to reports, Tyler confessed to his father but resisted his urging to turn himself in. “I would rather kill myself than turn myself in,” the accused apparently responded, standing firm in his refusal to surrender.
With little choice left, the father reached out to a local youth pastor, also serving as a court security officer, who then notified the U.S. Marshals. Robinson was safely taken into custody on the night of September 11, without further incident.
Unmistakable DNA Evidence
Investigators disclosed that Robinson, who holds no explicit political allegiances and is an inactive voter, had a clear vantage point directed towards the event’s stage when he fired. It was with a single shot to the neck that Kirk was killed.
FBI Director Kash Patel provided further confirmation that Robinson’s DNA was conclusively matched with evidence retrieved from the crime scene. This included a screwdriver found on the rooftop and a towel wrapped around the rifle believed to have been used in the shooting.
The Disturbing Note
In a conversation with Fox, Patel expounded upon the investigation, revealing more forensic evidence in the form of a handwritten note, supposedly penned by Robinson prior to the shooting. This critical piece of evidence, unfortunately, has been destroyed since its acquisition.
Patel relayed a chilling excerpt from the note, “I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”
The FBI director confirmed that this note was preserved at the suspect’s home, which he shared with a partner described as transgender.
Investigators disclosed examination of additional evidence, particularly a text exchange between Robinson and another party where Robinson purportedly states his intent to harm Charlie Kirk out of disdain for Kirk’s beliefs.
Unraveling the Motive
While Robinson has remained silent on the accusations, and a solid motive is yet to be established, the FBI has commenced interviews with Robinson’s partner. Governor Cox identified the partner as undergoing a gender transition from male to female.
Despite acknowledging the relationship, officials are warning against hasty speculations about the motivations, advising patience until more information becomes public.
Patel indicated that subsequent details, possibly clarifying motivations, will be outlined in the official charges expected by September 16.
