Donald Trump Criticizes Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize Achievement

Trump Voices Displeasure Over Obama’s Nobel Prize

This week, Donald Trump, visibly upset, spoke critically at the White House about Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize, saying the former president did “nothing” to earn it back in 2009.

As a refresher, Obama received this esteemed honor for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” His notable contributions included proposing to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq, fostering improved relations between the West and the Muslim world, and envisioning a future without nuclear weapons.

Despite these acknowledged efforts, Trump, years later, still opposes the Nobel committee’s decision to award Obama.

Yesterday, during a press conference from the Oval Office, the 79-year-old Trump expressed his opinions, challenging the achievements of the 44th president while also mentioning his aspirations for the same accolade.

โ€œHe got it for doing nothing,โ€ Trump exclaimed, criticizing the award being granted to Obama just a few weeks into his presidency.

Public Reactions to Trump’s Remarks

Unsurprisingly, these statements sparked reactions on social media, with some users expressing their disapproval.

One user remarked, โ€œYou can hear the jealousy dripping through every word. Obama lives rent-free in his head, pays no utilities, and just redecorated the place.โ€

Another commentator added, โ€œDonald Trump is the most needy, insecure man on the face of the planet.โ€

In his Oval Office address, Trump proudly cited his own achievements: โ€œIโ€™ve stopped eight wars, so thatโ€™s never happened before โ€“ but theyโ€™ll have to do what they do. Whatever they do is fine.”

He continued, “I know this: I didnโ€™t do it for that, I did it because I saved a lot of lives.โ€

Nevertheless, Trump’s hopes were dashed as the Nobel Peace Prize this year went to Venezuelan opposition leader and pro-democracy activist Marรญa Corina Machado.
