President Donald Trump was displeased with a ‘super bad’ picture TIME magazine featured of him, deeming it worthy of public criticism.

Recently, the President of the United States voiced his dissatisfaction with a particular image TIME magazine used to capture his return from diplomatic visits to Israel and Egypt. He described the image as the worst he has ever seen of himself.
Trump, aged 79, visited Sharm el-Sheikh on October 13 to participate in a summit aimed at establishing peace in Gaza. This gathering included global leaders from countries like Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, among others.
His visit to Israel, preceding the summit, was part of an effort to secure the release of hostages from Gaza in alignment with a ceasefire deal brokered between Israel and Hamas.
The peace plan framework involved Israelโs decision to release 250 Palestinian prisoners who were serving life sentences, along with an additional 1,700 individuals detained since October 7, 2023.
Discussing his efforts on a notable news network, Trump emphasized, โIโm good at solving wars. Iโm good at making peace.โ

TIME magazine published a cover story titled ‘Triumph,’ illustrating Trump’s success in mediating the Gaza ceasefire deal. The article acknowledged the roles played by figures like Steve Witkoff and former advisor Jared Kushner, highlighting the strenuous efforts required to calm one of the world’s most volatile conflicts.
Although Trump found the article itself ‘relatively good,’ he took issue with the choice of cover photo. The image, captured from a low angle outdoors, shows Trump in his classic navy suit paired with a red tie.
Despite ongoing praise for the agreement as a significant achievement of his second presidential term and a strategic turning point in the Middle East, the visual representation was not to Trump’s liking.

He made his dissatisfaction clear on his platform, Truth Social: โTime Magazine wrote a relatively good story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time. They โdisappearedโ my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked akin to a crown, though an unusually small one. Really weird!โ
Trump expressed his distaste for photographs taken from ‘underneath angles,’ asserting that the magazineโs choice was ‘super bad’ and merited critique.
In a rhetorical swipe, he pondered aloud, โWhat are they doing, and why?โ
Trumpโs history with TIME is longstanding; his first appearance graced the cover in 1989, and he has twice been named Person of the Year.

Reflecting on such accolades, Trump conveyed to NBC in 2016, โTo be on the cover of Time as Person of the Year is a tremendous honor. It means a lot, especially for someone who grew up reading Time. And, you know, itโs a very important magazine.โ
Trumpโs influence was recognized again in 2024, when he eclipsed other newsmakers such as former Vice President Kamala Harris, Catherine, Princess of Wales, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump was commended by the magazine for leading an historic comeback, reshaping the presidency, and repositioning Americaโs global role.
Nonetheless, Trumpโs connection with TIME has been tumultuous. In 2015, during his initial presidential campaign, he lamented not being honored on the cover, as that yearโs recognition went to German Chancellor Angela Merkel. At the time, he critiqued: โI told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite. They picked a person who is ruining Germany.โ
Similarly, in 2013, he disparaged TIMEโs annual 100 Most Influential People list, calling it a โjoke.โ
