Donald Trump’s Proposed ‘Arc de Trump’ Monument: A Grand Vision for Washington D.C.

Donald Trump has always been known for his grand ventures, and his plans for Washington D.C. are no exception. Presently, the East Wing of the White House is being reconstructed to make room for a grand new ballroom. However, thatโ€™s not the only grand project in Trumpโ€™s sights for the capital city. There are whispers of an ambitious undertaking that could rival even the Lincoln Memorial.

The talk among residents about Trump reshaping the historic East Wing has been a topic of mixed reactions. While some folks feel it erases a vital piece of the White House’s past, others welcome the changes, seeing the ballroom as a more functional addition for future events.

Meanwhile, humorous illustrations have joked about Trump’s potential creation of a monument bearing his likeness right on the White House grounds. But the conversations about another potential project are taking a more serious tone, indicating something significant might genuinely be on the horizon.

The proposed project, expected to set back a whopping $100 million, is drawing a lot of attention. An insider close to Trump shared with Axios that the project is indeed catching his fancy.

“Itโ€™s definitely on his radar,” the insider stated. “There are ideas floating around about different sizesโ€”a small arch, a medium arch, and a large oneโ€”but it doesnโ€™t take much guessing to know he likes the largest, especially if itโ€™s grand and dazzling in gold and white.”

Trump’s Vision: A Monument to Rival the Lincoln Memorial

This grand vision, dubbed the “Arc de Trump,” is intended to honor the United States’ 250th anniversary. Its design draws inspiration from the renowned Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France, aiming to make a striking impact.

Trump’s plans for the Arc de Trump were teased in an Oval Office gathering, where it was suggested that it would mark a significant entry point to the capital. Visitors traveling from Arlington National Cemetery across the Memorial Bridge would be greeted by this monument.

In a discussion with contributors in October, Trump revealed the preliminary vision for this architectural marvel. Displaying a conceptual proposal for the Arc de Trump, he remarked, “As people cross over that lovely bridge to the Lincoln Memorial, it just seems like something grand should stand there. This mock-up represents just one vision of it.”

This prospective arch would not only share its design roots with the Arc de Triomphe but would also feature intricate embellishments. One suggested plan includes elegant marble eagles with a resplendent golden Lady Liberty statue centrally placed, promising to outscale even the Lincoln Memorial.

“We have small, medium, and large designs. Personally, the large version appeals to me the most,” Trump commented, according to reports from Time magazine.
