This week, Donald Trump shared a somewhat unsettling three-word response when asked about his commitment to acquiring Greenland.
The idea of the Arctic territory transitioning from the Kingdom of Denmark to becoming the 51st U.S. state has been a hot topic since the start of the year.

Trump and his administration have consistently argued that Greenland is crucial for U.S. security, emphasizing its necessity for the proposed โGolden Domeโ missile defense system.
The challenge, however, is that Greenland is not just an empty expanse of land. It has been part of Danish sovereignty since 1814, with Denmark and most Greenlanders firmly opposing any transfer of the territory.
Several European countries have stood by Denmark in rejecting Trumpโs proposal, causing friction within NATO and raising concerns about the alliance’s stability.
Rumors circulated last week that Trump might consider invading Greenland if purchasing efforts fail, although the President has not officially dismissed this notion.

Trump is expected to elaborate on his perspective today, January 21, at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Key figures like French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will also attend, and it’s anticipated that Trump will further his agenda during the event.
The 79-year-old has insisted on securing Greenland, highlighting that it would happen โthe easy wayโ or โthe hard way.โ
During an unexpected press conference celebrating the anniversary of his second term’s first year, Trump responded with a cryptic three-word answer to reporters inquiring about his determination to acquire Greenland.
โYouโll find out,โ Trump stated.
The president also faced queries regarding his willingness to see NATO disbanded over the Greenland issue.
โI think somethingโs going to happen thatโs good for everyone,โ he explained.
โI believe we will reach an agreement… NATO will be satisfied, and we will be satisfied as well. But we require it for security reasons, not only for national security but global security too. It’s highly important.โ
Although the U.S. is the only NATO nation to have invoked Article 5 of the treaty (requiring members to aid an attacked ally), Trump voiced uncertainty about whether other nations would assist the U.S. in times of trouble.
โMy primary concern with NATO is the substantial amount of money we invest. While I know weโll come to their aid, I do have doubts about them coming to ours,โ Trump remarked.
