Donald Trump Talks About His Father’s Illness in Recent Interview

In a recent interview focusing on health and aging, Donald Trump had a moment of hesitation when discussing his father, Fred Trump’s, diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. This has sparked conversations online regarding the health of the 79-year-old ex-president.
People have been noticing various signs like bruised hands and swollen ankles in Trump’s photos. Last year, he raised eyebrows by claiming a dementia screening was like a very challenging IQ test. Trump’s father, Fred, experienced Alzheimer’s in the later years of his life until he passed away in 1999.
When speaking with New York Magazine, Trump was cautious about the portrayal of his health, making it clear that he would take legal action if a negative story were to be published.

Trump’s Hesitation in Recalling His Father’s Alzheimer’s
During the interview, when discussing his father, Trump mentioned Fred’s decline in his late 80s but paused when trying to recall the specific illness. His press secretary jumped in to help by naming the condition, Alzheimer’s, which Trump briefly referred to as an “Alzheimer’s thing.” However, he emphasized believing he does not have it himself.
Trump said he is not overly concerned about these matters, feeling confident due to his positive outlook and good genetics. He pointed out the longevity and heart health of his mother’s family and mentioned that genetics majorly influence one’s health.
The Use of Blood-Thinning Medication
Trump also discussed his use of blood-thinning medication, explaining he takes 325 milligrams of aspirin daily. This is higher than the low-dose typically suggested by physicians, but he claims it’s to prevent his blood from becoming too “thick.”
Despite advice from the Mayo Clinic and other institutions that low-dose aspirin can lower the risk of heart attacks and strokes but increase bleeding risks with age, Trump is keen to stick with his routine. He described himself as “a little superstitious,” given the routine’s longstanding place in his life.
