Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver are saying goodbye to their scrubs.
The longtime Grey’s Anatomy stars — who portray Dr. Owen Hunt and Dr. Teddy Altman — are officially exiting the series after nearly two decades. Their final appearance is set for the Season 22 finale on May 7, according to E! News.

“Grey’s Anatomy has been a huge chapter of my life, creatively and personally, and I’m deeply grateful for everything the show has given me over the years,” Kevin wrote in a statement on March 25 per E!News. “Playing Dr. Owen Hunt and directing on the show have both shaped me enormously, and I’ve had the privilege of working with an extraordinary group of people throughout that time.”

Kevin — whose character was romantically involved with Sandra Oh’s Dr. Cristina Yang prior to her 2014 departure, as well as Kim Raver’s Teddy — also shared his appreciation for original showrunner Shonda Rhimes.
“I’m looking forward to what’s ahead — building new work, telling new stories, and taking everything I’ve learned into the next phase of my career,” he said.
McKidd, born in Scotland, began his career in British film and television, gaining early recognition in projects like Trainspotting and HBO’s Rome. He joined Grey’s Anatomy in 2008 as Dr. Owen Hunt, a trauma surgeon and former U.S. Army doctor. Over the years, he became a central figure on the show, also directing multiple episodes.

Raver echoed the sentiment in a statement shared on Instagram, writing that Teddy will “always hold a dear and special place” in her heart.
The 57-year-old first joined Grey’s Anatomy in 2009, appearing in seasons six through eight. She exited in 2012 before returning in season 14 in 2017, later becoming a full-time series regular the following year.
“Playing Dr. Teddy Altman will always hold a dear and special place in my heart.
Sixteen years ago, I had the incredible privilege of stepping into this role thanks to the vision of Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers. Since that day, it has been a true gift to bring the iconic words of Shonda and our brilliant team of writers to life”…..
Raver, an American actress, rose to prominence with roles in series such as 24 and Third Watch. She first appeared on Grey’s Anatomy in 2009 as Dr. Teddy Altman, a cardiothoracic surgeon and military veteran. After initially leaving the show in 2012, she returned in 2017 and later became a series regular again.
Teddy and Owen’s relationship has long been central to Grey’s Anatomy — and anything but smooth. Though the on-screen couple tied the knot in season 18, they later hit another rough patch and divorced ahead of season 22.
Last season, Teddy began a new romance with Dr. Cass Beckman (Sophia Bush), while Owen’s past includes marriages to Sandra Oh’s Cristina Yang in season seven and Dr. Amelia Shepherd, played by Caterina Scorsone, in season 12.
In more recent episodes, however, the two — both U.S. Army veterans — appear to be finding their way back to each other, possibly for the final time. Shonda Rhimes has hinted that their departures may not be driven by a tragic storyline, leaving fans to wonder how their arc will conclude.
Either way, Owen and Teddy’s exit is expected to be an emotional blow for longtime viewers of the series.
