Nancy Guthrie Sighting Claim In Mexico Raises Questions

New messages have surfaced in the case of Nancy Guthrie, with a mysterious sender again claiming to have information about her alleged kidnappers โ€” but demanding payment in return, perย TMZ.

According to the outlet, the same person who has been contacting the media for nearly two months sent a new note on Monday โ€” the same day Savannah Guthrie returned to NBCโ€™sย Todayย show. In the message, the sender reiterated their demand for 1 bitcoin in exchange for identifying those responsible, saying they could โ€œdeliver them on a silver platter.โ€

Shortly after, a second message followed with a more specific and alarming claim: the sender alleged they saw Nancy alive with a group in Sonora, Mexico โ€” a northern state bordering Arizona and parts of New Mexico, not far from where she disappeared in Tucson on Feb. 1.

Despite that claim, the sender also contradicted themselves, stating in the earlier note that Nancy is dead.

The messages were shared with the FBI, but authorities appear skeptical. Perย TMZ, the first letter states,ย ย โ€œItโ€™s unbelievable that millions have been wasted and yet here I am willing to deliver them on a silver platter since the 11th of february for a bitcoin but I am disregarded as a scam โ€ฆ they are free and the case is frozen but the egoโ€™s remain hot when it comes to me. Arrogance at itโ€™s finest.โ€

ย According toย TMZ, there has been no activity in the bitcoin account tied to the demands, suggesting investigators are not treating the claims as credible at this time.

The sender seemed aware of that doubt, referencing it directly in the note โ€” adding another layer of uncertainty to an already troubling and confusing development in the case.

Perย TMZ, the anonymous sender behind the latest messages in Nancy Guthrieโ€™s case is now lowering their demands โ€” even as authorities appear unconvinced.

The person claims they are willing to reveal information about the alleged kidnappers for half a bitcoin upfront, with the remaining half to be paid only after a public arrest is made. The shift comes as bitcoin prices have recently declined, adding another twist to the unusual ransom-style offer.

According toย TMZ, the sender also attempts to distance themselves from the crime, saying they have been living outside the United States for more than five years and had no involvement in what they described as a โ€œhorrificโ€ act.

In a second message, the individual insists their motives are not purely financial, writing that they โ€œjust want whatโ€™s fairโ€ and hope to quietly restart their life without needing to enter witness protection.

Despite the evolving claims and reduced demand, there is no indication that the FBI is taking the offer seriously.
