‘The Voice’ Alum Passed Away At 24

Dylan Carter, a 24-year-old country singer from South Carolina who appeared on Season 24 of The Voice in 2023, died Saturday, April 25, following a car accident.

The crash occurred in Colleton County, South Carolina. News of his passing was shared by Local Voice, a nonprofit organization Carter co-founded to support women battling cancer. Additional details surrounding the accident were not immediately available, per Deadline.

“With heavy hearts we share the passing of Dylan Carter, co-founder of The Local Voice, talented musician, and someone who meant so much to our community,” the organization posted to Facebook.  “Dylan was the heart of what we do. He believed every voice matters and lived that every day. Through his music, his kindness, and his smile, he brought people together and made everyone feel seen.

Described by the group as a “proud Lowcountry native,” Carter was the owner of Sunny Days RV & Campground and also worked as a realtor. He gained national attention in 2023 with his audition on The Voice, delivering a performance of I Look to You by Whitney Houston.

After impressing the judges, he chose Reba McEntire as his coach, noting he had long admired her. Carter also shared that the audition was dedicated to his late mother, who had died the year before.

He had been scheduled to perform a concert in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, on April 27. Carter was raised in St. George, South Carolina, a small town located about 50 miles from Charleston.
