Soap opera actor Scott Bryce, best known for his role on As the World Turns, has died. He was 68.
Bryce’s son, Jackson Bryce, confirmed the news in an Instagram tribute shared on July 12, posting a collection of photos honoring his late father.

Jackson Bryce announced that his father, actor Scott Bryce, died after a long battle with cancer. He shared that Scott was first diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer, which later spread to his brain. Despite undergoing radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Jackson said his father remained determined and hopeful, believing he could beat the disease until the very end.

In his tribute, Jackson remembered Scott as both a talented actor and a devoted father. He reflected on Scott’s successful career, including his Emmy nominations and reputation as a “one-take actor,” but said his father considered becoming a dad at age 50 to be his greatest achievement. Jackson also shared fond memories of their time together, especially traveling for basketball, and said he was grateful for his father’s unwavering love and support.

Born in New York, Scott Bryce came from a family of performers as the son of actors Ed and Dorothy Bryce.
He was best known for playing Craig Montgomery on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns. Bryce portrayed the fan-favorite character during multiple runs on the series between 1982 and 2008. Early in his time on the show, his character was romantically paired with Betsy Stewart, played by a young Meg Ryan.
Beyond daytime television, Bryce had a recurring role as Mike McQueen on the 1999 teen drama Popular, starring alongside Leslie Bibb, Carly Pope and Christopher Gorham.
Throughout his career, he made guest and recurring appearances on numerous television shows, including The Facts of Life, Murphy Brown, L.A. Law, Sex and the City, 30 Rock, Gossip Girl, Homeland, Beacon Hill and The Good Fight.
According to IMDb, Bryce’s final screen credit came in 2024, when he appeared in four episodes of Law & Order.
