Toby Keith is being transparent about his fight against cancer.
After being diagnosed with stomach cancer in the fall of 2021, the country artist, who was 61 at the time, informed his followers in June 2022 that he would be taking some time off from performing music in order to undergo chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.
Keith stated that he is positive about his future in an upcoming interview with CMT Hot 20 Countdown. This interview will be his first since he disclosed his diagnosis, and Keith said, “I need a little bit of time to just rest up and heal up.”
He said, “It’s very debilitating to have to go through all of that, but as long as everything stays hunky-dory, then we’ll look at something positive in the future.” “It’s quite debilitating to have to go through all of that.”
During the summer, Keith published on Instagram the following: “During the past half year, I have undergone chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery to treat my cancer. So far, so good. I require some breathing room as well as time to heal and unwind.”
“I am looking forward to spending this time with my family,” he stated. “I have been anxiously awaiting this opportunity.” “But I won’t keep you waiting too long to see me again, admirers. I simply cannot wait.”
In a subsequent post, Keith thanked those who had supported him by saying, “I am grateful for all of the support and love you have given me. I am fortunate to have the most devoted admirers in the planet.”
At the beginning of this month, Keith performed for his fans at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Lexington, Kentucky, songs such as “I Love This Bar” and Lynyrd Skynard’s “Sweet Home Alabama.”
The proprietor of the restaurant posted a picture from the show to social media with a message applauding Keith for his triumph against cancer and his return to the stage.
A few days later, Keith was recognized at the 2022 BMI Awards by being presented with the BMI Icon Award, and he was honored with tribute performances from singers like as Carrie Underwood and Eric Church.
On Giving Tuesday, the musician known for “Red Solo Cup” posted a touching photo of himself with a cancer patient and thanked his fans for donating to the Toby Keith Foundation. In 2006, Keith established the nonprofit in order to offer assistance to youngsters who were battling cancer.
He revealed that the most recent contributions will be made to the OK Kids Korral, which he established in 2014 as “a cost-free, convenient, and comfortable home for pediatric cancer patients receiving treatment.” He described it as “a home for cost-free, convenient, and comfortable for pediatric cancer patients receiving treatment.”
