Actress Judy Farrell is best known for her role as Nurse Able in 8 episodes of the sitcom “MAS*H” from 1976 to 1983. However, she also appeared in numerous other TV shows, such as “Get Smart,” “The Partridge Family,” and “Quincy, M.E.” In addition to her acting career, Farrell was also a prolific writer, penning 131 episodes of the TV series “Port Charles.”
Farrell’s son, Michael Farrell, informed TMZ that his mother passed away on April 2, 2023, at the age of 84. He revealed that she had suffered a stroke nine days prior, which led to her hospitalization. While she was unable to speak, she remained conscious and could squeeze the hands of her loved ones who were present until her passing.
Farrell was previously married to Mike Farrell, who played Captain B.J. Hunnicutt on “MAS*H.” However, they got divorced in 1983. She later tied the knot with Joe Bratcher in 1985 as her second husband.
During her time on “MAS*H,” Farrell worked alongside actress Loretta Swit, who portrayed Maj. Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan. Swit fondly remembered Farrell, describing her as a beautiful person both inside and out.
She expressed her grief in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, saying, “We grew up together. She was family. This has been a painful loss, but we will always have the beauty of her memory. Rest in peace, Nurse Able.”
Farrell is survived by her husband and her two children, Michael and Erin.
