Kayla Glines has countless reasons to be overjoyed – she holds the unique distinction of being the world’s first third-born individual to give birth to quadruplets. At the age of 32, against seemingly insurmountable odds, Kayla welcomed four precious additions to her family: Reese, Jameson, Oaklee, and Lincoln.
Her extraordinary journey unfolds over the course of more than a decade, marked by hope, unwavering patience, moments of despair, and ultimately, unbridled joy when her heartfelt wish to create a loving family with her husband, Allen, became a reality.
Initially, Kayla embarked on the path of fertility treatment, leading to her first pregnancy with triplets.
However, this joyous occasion was marred by tragedy as one of the babies didn’t survive. Heartbreak soon turned into hope as Kayla found herself expecting again, this time naturally. To her astonishment, she learned that she was pregnant with quadruplets.
Kayla, who herself is part of a triplet, shared her amazement, saying, “We couldn’t believe it when I went for an ultrasound, and the doctor told me I was pregnant with quadruplets. We had been trying for so many years to get pregnant naturally, and to find out that I was going to have four babies, especially when I’m a triplet myself, was really amazing.”
Embarking on a pregnancy with quadruplets is inherently fraught with challenges and risks. Kayla and her husband, Allen, who resides with her in Salt Lake City, Utah, were well aware of the potential difficulties. However, they were blessed with the safe and healthy arrival of all four babies.
Prior to their fertility journey, Kayla and Allen had already taken on the roles of loving parents by adopting her brother’s two daughters, who are now eight and six years old. This familial foundation, combined with their unwavering determination to start a family together, led them to seek fertility treatment in 2016.
Their journey included the successful birth of two of the triplets without complications in August 2017, and this year, they celebrated the arrival of their quadruplets in March. With this incredible addition, the couple now finds themselves parents to a total of eight children, six of whom are under the age of two.
Kayla mused, “Sometimes Allen and I can’t believe what has happened to us. We spent 10 years looking for a family, and now we have a huge family of eight children and us!” Their story is an inspiring testament to the power of hope, resilience, and the boundless love that family can bring.
