De Niro was reportedly in a somber mood at Leandro’s funeral, which was held on July 7, and was attended by close family members and friends. Leandro was the fourth son of Drena De Niro, the adopted daughter of Robert De Niro. Drena is the daughter of Diahnne Abbot, who Robert married in 1976. Drena also released a heartfelt statement in memory of her son, describing him as “all that was ever pure and real in my life.” She wrote a tender message expressing her love for her son and the indescribable joy he brought into her life, acknowledging the pain of his absence and her determination to continue spreading the love and light he brought to her as a mother.
