After learning that her husband Alec Baldwin would face charges of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set in October 2021, Hilaria Baldwin has come forward.
The mother of seven-spoke candidly about the support her family has gotten in the wake of the news in the most recent edition of her podcast Witches Anonymous, which was released on Sunday.
She stated, “I do really want to express to you how grateful I am for your support, your compassion, and your reason. It’s been an emotional time for my family.” “Sincerely, without it, we would fail. Therefore, I want to thank you for being our rock at this time because I don’t feel very strong.”
Dr. Hillary Goldsher and podcast co-host Michelle Campbell Mason then spoke on the program on “parenting through hard times and how to take care of not only your kids but yourself during them.”
Hilaria remarked, later adding that she wants “everything to be sunshine and rainbows all the time” for their children, “Kids are sponges and certain topics are not always age-appropriate; we cannot deny that they don’t feel the energy and pick up on certain things in the family.”
“And one of the things Dr. Goldsher mentioned that I really liked was sometimes educating children not to be afraid of emotion, pain, or going through difficult moments. That is actually such a blessing since it will educate them to be resilient and realize that emotions are fleeting and better times will eventually return “Added she.
In addition, Hilaria stressed the value of “finding humanity in others and knowing that they may be experiencing something similar, and so being nice, being patient, and being good friends to as many people as we can.”
She again thanked the audience for their “kindness and support” as she concluded the audio broadcast.
Alec, 64, and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will each face two counts of involuntary manslaughter, according to a statement made earlier this month by Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies and special prosecutor Andrea Reeb. Before the month is over, the charges will be formally filed.
In connection with the shooting that injured Rust director Joel Souza, no charges will be brought.
Alec’s attorney Luke Nikas of Quinn Emanuel sent the following statement to PEOPLE on Thursday: “This decision distorts Halyna Hutchins’ sad death and is a horrific miscarriage of justice.”
There was no reason for Mr. Baldwin to think there was a live bullet in the rifle or anyplace else on the set, Nikas continued. He trusted the experts with whom he worked when they told him the pistol didn’t contain live ammunition.
The lawyer declared, “We will fight these charges and prevail.”
Alec and other Rust creators in October settled an action for wrongful death brought by Hutchins’ widower Matthew. The group also agreed to finish the film with Matthew serving as executive producer as part of the deal. Rust was supposed to start up again this month.
In addition to daughters Ilaria Catalina Irena, four months, Maria Lucia Victoria, two next month, and Carmen Gabriela, nine, sons Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 2, Romeo Alejandro David, 412, Leonardo ngel Charles, 6, and Rafael Thomas, 712, and sons Alec and Hilaria were married in 2012.
One year after Hutchins’ on-set passing while working on Rust, Hilaria admitted to Extra in December 2022 that she is concerned about Alec.
She continued by saying that their family is still struggling after the tragedy on October 21, 2021, when Alec was holding a prop gun that accidentally discharged and murdered 42-year-old Hutchins on the set of his Western movie. Alec insists that he did not fire the gun.
She added at the time, “I worry for him. “Can you imagine, I mean? Neither can. It was quite difficult to make sense of what had transpired.”
Hilaria continued, “When you go through anything difficult, you know not every day is going to be the same. “There are times during the day that are quite difficult. Nights are difficult. Dreams are challenging. I simply showed up and told them, “I’m here, and I’m going to take care of you,” and I did so as soon as we discovered what had happened.”
