Actress Amber Heard has recently accused her Aquaman co-star Jason Momoa of unprofessional behavior on the set of their upcoming film, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.” According to court documents reported by Variety, Heard claimed that Momoa appeared intoxicated during filming and even dressed in a manner reminiscent of her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
The court documents include notes from a therapist who detailed Heard’s concerns about Momoa’s behavior. “Jason said he wanted me fired. Jason drunk—late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too,” the notes read. These revelations emerged as part of the defamation lawsuits involving Amber Heard and Johnny Depp from last year.
A representative for DC, the studio behind the new film quickly defended Jason Momoa, saying that he had “conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’” However, when Variety approached a representative for Jason Momoa for a comment, they declined to provide a statement.
In response to these allegations, an anonymous source who was reportedly present on the set spoke to Variety. The source acknowledged that Momoa enjoys having a beer occasionally like most people but emphasized that he does not show up drunk on set. Additionally, the source clarified that Momoa’s personal style has always reflected a bohemian aesthetic, dispelling the notion that he was dressing like Johnny Depp.
Amber Heard’s complaints about Momoa’s behavior on the set are perplexing, especially given that her role in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was the subject of controversy during her defamation trial against Johnny Depp in May 2022. Heard testified that she had to fight hard to maintain her role in the film but ultimately had to settle for a scaled-back version of her character.
However, during the trial, Kathryn Arnold, an industry expert and witness for Amber Heard, stated that it was Jason Momoa who championed her cause and ensured her place in the movie.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is the sequel to the successful 2018 film “Aquaman” and has been highly anticipated by fans. The movie is scheduled for release on December 20, 2023, and will undoubtedly draw significant attention due to this newfound controversy surrounding its two lead actors.
