At the age of 68, ‘Scarface’ star Ángel Salazar has passed away…

It has been reported by TMZ that Getty Ángel Salazar, who was mostly recognized for his role as Al Pacino’s trusty sidekick “Chi Chi” in the legendary gangster film “Scarface,” has passed away.

Ann Wingsong, who is Salazar’s representative and his closest friend, has informed TMZ that the actor passed away peacefully in his sleep at the residence of his buddy in Brooklyn over the weekend.

The loss of Salazar was discovered in bed on Sunday morning, according to Wingsong, when the buddy went to check on Salazar in a room nearby. Although it was not divulged what caused Salazar’s loss, the representative said that he had complications with his heart.

Salazar played Chi Chi, the faithful henchman of Pacino’s iconic Tony Montana character, in the film “Scarface,” which was directed by Brian DePalma and released in 1983. This part was Salazar’s first opportunity to work in the acting industry.

Fans of the iconic film will never forget Chi Chi’s heroic actions in saving Tony’s life during the sequence that is often referred to as the “chainsaw scene.” They will also never forget Chi Chi’s gruesome loss at the conclusion of the movie, when his back is riddled with bullets from a hit squad hired by drug boss Alejandro Sosa. This is something that they will never forget.

As expected, Tony Montana is likewise killed by a shower of gunfire at the hands of the assassins who are armed with firearms and working for Sosa.

While Salazar was most remembered for his performance in “Scarface,” he was also noted for his roles alongside Tom Hanks in the 1988 comedy “Punchline” and Pacino again in the 1993 drama “Carlito’s Way.”

At the same time, Salazar was a well-known comedian who appeared on “Last Comic Standing” and appeared in a number of comedy specials that were shown on HBO.

Other titles that have been credited to him include “Boulevard Nights,” “Walk Proud,” “Hot to Trot,” and “Maniac Cop 2,” amongst others.

The age of the man was 68.
