Boyfriend of Female Shot After Going Into Wrong Driveway Speaks Out

Blake Walsh, the boyfriend of Kaylin Gillis, who was shot and killed after they mistakenly turned into the wrong driveway, recently opened up about the tragic incident in an interview with NBC News. Walsh shared that he was with Gillis at the time of the shooting and revealed details about what happened that night.

According to Walsh, he and Gillis thought they had arrived at the correct address but due to the lack of cell service, they were unable to confirm. As soon as they realized they were in the wrong location, they attempted to leave but it was too late. As they were trying to flee the scene, Walsh heard his friend shout that they were being shot at. He tried to speed away as quickly as possible, but unfortunately, Gillis was hit by a fatal shot.

Walsh expressed his hope that Gillis did not suffer after being struck by the bullet. He stated, “I want to believe it was instant. I’m hoping it was. I’m praying it was.”

After the shooting, Walsh and their two friends called 911. Gillis was later pronounced dead a few miles away, while Walsh was wounded after being hit in the neck.

The 19-year-old New York native revealed that he had big plans for his future with Gillis, whom he had been dating since high school. Walsh said, “I want the world to know how good of a person she really was and how much she impacted everybody who had the fortunate opportunity to be in her life.”

He also expressed his grief and loss, saying, “My world was taken from me Saturday.”

Walsh further shared that he wanted to confront the person responsible for Gillis’ death. Kevin Monahan, 65, has been identified by authorities as the suspect in the murder. Monahan allegedly shot at the group after they mistakenly turned into his driveway while searching for a party they planned to attend. He has been charged with second-degree murder but has pleaded not guilty through his lawyer, Kurt Mausert.

The tragedy has left Walsh and their friends devastated, and the loss of Gillis has deeply impacted their community. Through his interview, Walsh hoped to honor Gillis’ memory and highlight the positive impact she had on those around her.
