Christy Carlson Romano Breaks Down Over Cancer Screening Results

โ€œEven Stevensโ€ and โ€œKim Possibleโ€ actress Chisty Carlson Romano shared an emotional video on Instagram on February 17th. In the reel, she sits on the couch, looking at the camera as she shares the results for a cancer screen test she and her husband, Brendan Rooney, both had done.

She started the video by explained why she decided to take the test. Both of her parents had cancer. While her mom survived, her dad did not.

Then she jumped to getting the results. She shared, โ€œI got the results back a little before filming down in Florida. My husbandโ€™s came back completely negative.โ€

Then she took a long breath before saying, โ€œMine did not come back negative.โ€

She clarified that the results donโ€™t mean that she has cancer, but it is possible. Her next step is to get a PET scan, but itโ€™s not all that easy to get insurance to cover it. She described it as โ€œfighting with companies to get it covered. โ€

She tried to continue explaining, but she had to pause to compose herself, rubbing her eyes and trying to wipe away tears.

When she continued, she spoke about actor James Van Der Beek, who recently passed away. She explained, โ€œI was able to meet James Van Der Beek a bunch. His familyโ€™s amazing. Heโ€™s a pillar of our community in Texas. They always were raising money for the most amazing charities. And heโ€™s not with us anymore. And, um, cancer is everywhere. Which is why I got this test.โ€

She cut away, and when the video starts up again, she adds, โ€œI kind of was in disbelief about it because I was filming, and I was so happy to be back on set, and I didnโ€™t really want to think about it much until I got home.โ€

The project sheโ€™s referring to that she was filming in Florida is most likely the upcoming TV movie โ€œHoliday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come Trueโ€ which was filmed at Walt Disney World over the holidays. It is currently listed on IMDB as in post production.

She added that sheโ€™s been โ€œprepping with my legal team and getting clearances for my memoir thatโ€™s about to be announced.โ€ She may not realize it, but I think this Instagram post counts as announcing her memoir.

She explained, โ€œWhen youโ€™re somebody like me, you kind of have to take life a day at a time. Really be grateful for all the amazing stuff around you. And thatโ€™s why I always try to make jokes, and I try to be funny, not just because Iโ€™m trying to be light, or stay relevant. I donโ€™t share that a lot, and so when my book comes out youโ€™re going to find a lot of stuff about me that you didnโ€™t know.โ€

She described her current situation as a โ€œvery vulnerable time for me.โ€

She added that she has to โ€œT have a strong sense of faith and know that itโ€™s in Godโ€™s hands.โ€

She continues, โ€œIโ€™m sure people think Iโ€™m overreacting, but Iโ€™m not because cancerโ€™s pretty serious, and I have two little girls. This is a very emotional post.โ€

She wrapped up the video by wiping tears from her eyes as she said, โ€œKnow that I have a loving family around me to support me, and Iโ€™m gonna keep fighting for answers.โ€
