‘Commander in Sleep’: Speculations Rise Over Trump’s Fatigue in Recent Meeting

Over the years, President Donald Trump has often positioned himself as a man brimming with energy and vitality. Nevertheless, maintaining this dynamic image seems to be a growing challenge.

Recently, images of President Trump have caused a stir online, with many observers pointing out that he looks noticeably wearier than before.

Is Trump More Tired Nowadays?

Donald Trump, now 79, has the distinction of being the oldest person ever elected president. He often uses this fact to draw contrasts and mock his predecessor, Joe Biden, who served at the age of 82. A notable instance includes Trump displaying a picture of an autopen where Biden’s photograph would traditionally be in the White House.

“He sleeps all the time — during the day, during the night, on the beach,” Trump quipped about Biden last November, asserting, “I’m not a sleeper.”

However, reports from The New York Times suggest signs of increased fatigue in Trump compared to his earlier tenure.

Americans see less of him these days, and The Times analysis of his schedule confirms this. His domestic appearances have decreased in frequency, though he is engaging in more international travel.

The former president’s public timetable has also shrunk, with most engagements occurring between noon and 5 p.m.

Struggling to Stay Alert

A recent image capturing President Trump during a Cabinet meeting has ignited widespread discussion on social media. The 79-year-old appeared to be battling sleepiness as the lengthy meeting continued. His drooping eyelids were noticeable as he listened to his Cabinet members recount their achievements in the past year.

The meeting extended for two hours and 17 minutes, tackling various issues, such as Trump’s firm stance on the fight against drug trafficking, health concerns, and a pointed critique directed at Somali immigrants.

Social media was quick to latch onto Trump’s apparent lapses in focus, giving him playful new nicknames like ‘Dozy Don’ and ‘Commander in Sleep’.

In response, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt countered these claims, asserting that the president remained dynamic and engaged during the entire meeting.

“President Trump maintained focus and led the entire three-hour marathon Cabinet meeting,” she stated to the Daily Mail.

Ignoring Criticism

Lately, President Trump’s health continues to be a topic of heated discussion, with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz urging him to disclose his MRI findings.

Trump adhered to the call, and on Monday, December 1, White House officials released scans, noting a “perfectly normal” MRI with no areas of concern.

Before momentarily closing his eyes, Trump criticized the media for their persistent queries regarding his health: “You always find something new, like, ‘Is he in good health?’” He retorted, “Biden was great.”

I engage in four news conferences a day and handle questions from really clever challengers. I provide accurate responses. There’s no scandal, no issues. I deliver answers and solve your minor problems,” Trump expressed.

“Despite your investigations, you always manage to create stories about Biden’s wonderful health. But he couldn’t conduct a news conference for eight months.”

He continued: “If I skip one day of doing a news conference, it becomes a headline, ‘Something’s wrong with the president.’”

“When there’s an issue, you’ll be informed. It happens to all of us eventually. However, right now, I feel as sharp as I was 25 years ago, but only time will tell.”

The ‘Amazing Final Answer’

Trump staunchly defended his health issues early in the meeting; however, about 90 minutes in, he seemed to fight sleepiness as his Cabinet members continued their discussions—leading to the moniker ‘Commander in Sleep’ spreading online.

Leavitt responded to the reactions by focusing on what she termed the president’s “amazing final answer” during his press exchange, where he forcefully criticized Somali immigrants.

“Watch his striking final answer where he lambasts the America-Last Democrats for tolerating radical Somali migrants who drain the country’s resources,” she mentioned, according to People. “This moment underscored President Trump’s ninth Cabinet assembly in his second term — all completely transparent and open to the media.”

She added: “These historic Cabinet meetings allow the president and his dedicated team to highlight the array of achievements they’ve made for the American public to Make America Great Again.”

Aiming at Representative Ilhan Omar, originally from Somalia, Trump commented: “She’s trash, her companions are trash. These aren’t people who contribute. They’re not eager to build and improve. They merely whine.”

“They protest and constantly moan and complain,” he continued. “We don’t need them here. Let them return to where they came from and start over.”
