“Django Unchained” Actor And Dear Friend Of Jamie Foxx Dies At 53

Actor Keith Jefferson is probably best known for the role he played in the 2012 Quentin Tarantino movie “Django Unchained.” Other notable credits include “The Hateful Eight,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” ” and “Day Shift.” He also has an upcoming project in the works called “All-Star Weekend.” The status of the film is “completed,” but it has yet to be released.

Unfortunately, Jefferson will never get to see his upcoming project get released. On October 5, 2023, he died of cancer. He was only 53 years old.

Jefferson’s representative told Fox News Digital , “I am deeply saddened by Keith’s passing. He was a tremendous talent and it is a profound loss to the artistic community.” The rep added, “He had several projects in the pipeline and was in the midst of a project that captured his unique and resonant voice. He had been looking forward to returning in the new year. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and close friends.”

Upon hearing the news of his good friend’s death, actor Jamie Foxx posted a tribute on Instagram. He wrote, “this one hurts. Keith, you’ve been nothing but absolute grace, your whole life your heart is pure your love is immeasurable you were an amazing soul. We will all miss you dearly. It’s gonna take a long time for this to heal. Goodbye, my friend. I love you.”

It seems that Foxx is taking his friend’s death really hard. He has actually posted three tributes to Jefferson in the past couple days. A second post reads, “Everything hurts right now having a hard time looking through these pictures reliving the memories of us having a great time going to miss you man gonna miss you…every since we met back in college, you have been in incredible soul God rest, NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE WORDS ABOUT MY FRIEND RIP.”

On August 9th, less than two months before his death, Jefferson shared the news with his followers that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He shared a black and white picture of himself in a hospital bed and explained in the caption, “When I was first diagnosed with cancer I had to stop, pause , and didn’t want to share with anyone. Not my family nor extended family. Today I’m finally at a place to share because my faith is getting stronger.”

He continued the post by thanking his close friends and family for their love and support. He wrote, “I have a loving family and the best friends in the entire world. You know who you are. From my Mom to J Foxx and everybody in between. I love you whole heartedly.”
