Django Unchained Star Dead At Just 53, R.I.P

Jamie Foxx is grieving the loss of a dear friend.

Last Thursday, the 55-year-old actor took to Instagram to announce the passing of his close friend Keith Jefferson, expressing his deep sorrow. “Losing you is a deep pain, Keith. Your life was marked by kindness and an immense heart; you’ve always radiated positivity,” shared Foxx.

He further added, “Your absence will deeply resonate with many. Healing from this loss will take time. Farewell, dear friend. My heart holds immense love for you.”

In a subsequent post, Foxx stated, “There’s an overwhelming pain I feel, going through our pictures and reminiscing about the moments we’ve shared. I’ll always cherish and miss them.”

Foxx also touched upon their longstanding relationship, mentioning, “From our college days, you’ve been a beacon of positivity. I never imagined penning down a goodbye for you. Rest in peace @keith.jefferson Keith.”

Keith Jefferson’s personal website lists him as an actor, producer, voiceover artist, and acting coach. He collaborated with Foxx in 1998 on The Jamie Foxx Show. Jefferson had significant roles in Quentin Tarantino films including Django Unchained (2012), starring Foxx, Day Shift (2022), and Jamie Foxx’s latest film, The Burial.

Jefferson had earlier taken to Instagram on Aug. 9 to disclose his cancer diagnosis. Following this, on Aug. 30, Foxx urged his followers for prayers and mentioned the profound bond he shared with Keith since their college days, stating, “@keith.jefferson stay strong and keep battling. You’re in my prayers.”

Jefferson didn’t just work with Foxx; he also played roles in Tarantino’s films such as The Hateful Eight (2015) and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). Jefferson had shared the trailer for The Burial on his Instagram, expressing his gratitude for working with a stellar cast, including Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones, and called it his most pivotal role.

Jefferson had also uploaded a photo with Foxx on Instagram, which was also shared by Foxx. In his post, Jefferson voiced his deep appreciation for his friends, particularly highlighting Foxx’s support, saying, “Your unwavering support means the world. I’m filled with gratitude and faith.”

In response to that post, Foxx’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, 29, left a touching comment, expressing, “You’re cherished, Keith.”
