Dolly Parton criticised for appearing “cheap” and “ugly” – but she’s hit back

Dolly Parton has spent a long and prosperous career in the public eye. The renowned singer’s talents have transcended decades and styles; she has been at the pinnacle of the entertainment industry for as long as most of us can remember.

Even a legendary figure like her is obliged to confront her critics. According to sources, a number of them have recently been active, criticising her appearance – despite the fact that she is approaching the age of 80.

Dolly Parton, 77, is a household name in both country music and the celebrity sphere. The Tennessee native has become nothing short of a legend and, despite performing and singing pretty much her entire life, she has delighted to entertain her legions of admirers. In a recent interview with Pollystar,

Dolly Parton explained that she would no longer be touring. She explained: “I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a full weekend of gigs, or just a few shows during a festival. But I have no intention of embarking on a full-fledged tour again.”

Dolly Parton, who managed to reach the very pinnacle of global entertainment after growing up in poverty in the Appalachian Mountains, will undoubtedly be missed on stage.

Despite her unquestionable appeal, others criticise her appearance.

Indeed, her appearance appears to have been a source of contention for much her entire career. Dolly has previously stated that people told her that if she ever desired a meaningful career, she should shed her characteristic style. “The main advice that people want to give me was to change my look – to go simpler with my hair and the way that I dress,” she told us. “Not to look so cheap, nobody was ever going to take me seriously, they would say.”

Mean comments have persisted over the years. If anything, some individuals feel vindicated for labelling Dolly in completely harsh ways. One Twitter user said, “Dolly Parton is one ugly lady,” while another noted, “Dolly Parton is so ugly, but she got nice breasts.” Despite the hostility and venom from others online, Dolly remains steadfast in her resistance. She’s completely content with her body and appearance and isn’t going to alter for anyone.

“It costs a lot of money to look this cheap,” she famously declared.

As for her hubby, the country icon has previously stated that he loves her unconditionally. “He doesn’t care if I’m fat,” Parton stated.

“He was never off. He’s foolish enough to believe I’m the world’s sexiest, beautiful lady.” Perhaps unsurprisingly, Dolly is still hungry for success and new challenges. According to Rolling Stone, she’s ready to accept her 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and wants to honour it by releasing an album that some may perceive to be outside of her wheelhouse. Fans were overjoyed last year when it was revealed that Dolly Parton was being considered for a seat in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after her great career.

However, according to reports, the celebrity was originally hesitant to discuss the honour. The Jolene singer was claimed to believe that because her career has primarily been in country music, others would be better suited to entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the end, however, the people spoke, and voters determined that Dolly belonged there.

In November, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame, and she promptly set about proving that her selection was warranted. I don’t care what anyone says; I think Dolly Parton is extremely gifted!
