Donald Trump Criticizes Female Journalist, Sparking Controversy

Donald Trump recently found himself in the headlines after an incident aboard Air Force One where he referred to a reporter as โ€œpiggy.โ€ Now, the public discourse heats up once again as Trump targets a female journalist on social media with remarks concerning her appearance.

Known for his outspoken nature, former President Donald Trump continues to stir reactions with his social media posts. Many argue he’s making a mockery of the presidential office by focusing on peopleโ€™s appearances with his comments.

Itโ€™s not unusual for Trump to deliver scathing nicknames to those he disagrees with, including political figures. Just recently, he referred to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker as a โ€œfat slob.โ€

During a flight on Air Force One, the ex-president previously described a reporter using unflattering terms, a comment that drew significant backlash from various journalists and Democratic supporters. However, many of his followers remained loyal.

In a recent incident, Trump has yet again turned his attention to a female journalist, criticizing her over what he deems inaccurate reporting, and commented on her looks.

Katie Rogers, a journalist with The New York Times, wrote about Trump reducing his public engagement compared to his earlier presidential tenure. Her piece suggested that maintaining a continuous showcase of โ€œenergy, virility, and physical staminaโ€ challenges Trump, attributed primarily to his age of 79.

Trump Criticizes ‘Ugly’ Journalist

Reacting to the report, Trump took to social media with sharp words, labeling The New York Times as an โ€œenemy of the people.โ€ He bragged about having the โ€œhighest poll numbers everโ€ and anticipated they would โ€œonly riseโ€ due to his efforts.

He also commented unfavorably on Katie Rogersโ€™ appearance.

โ€œCalls from the Failing New York Times are happening again,โ€ Trump exclaimed on Truth Social. โ€œThese Radical Left Lunatics from the soon-to-close New York Times are attacking with another baseless piece about my energy declining, which is unfounded.โ€

He added, โ€œThe story’s writer, Katie Rogers, whom New York Times dispatched to denigrate me, is nothing more than a third rate reporter who is both ugly outwardly and inwardly.โ€

โ€œThere will come a time when I tire; itโ€™s inevitable, but with a RECENTLY PERFECT PHYSICAL EXAM AND ACHIEVING A TOP COGNITIVE TEST (โ€˜Aced itโ€™), it isnโ€™t happening soon!โ€ Trump finalized his thoughts.

The New York Times responded to Trumpโ€™s remarks. Via a statement to People Magazine, they addressed Trumpโ€™s behavior, particularly his attack on Katie Rogers.

โ€œOur reporting at The Times is precise and rooted in firsthand accounts. Personal insults and name-calling wonโ€™t alter that, nor will they deter our journalists from covering this administration despite intimidation tactics. Reporters like Katie Rogers exemplify how a free and independent press aids Americans in understanding their leaders and government better,โ€ the outlet asserted.

Clarification from the White House

Abigail Jackson, a representative of the White House, shared a message stating that the President’s recent comments havenโ€™t related to gender concerns.

โ€œPresident Trump doesn’t conform to political correctness, and he’s candid, which forms a substantial reason the American citizens chose to re-elect him. His remarks aren’t a matter of gender โ€“ instead, they reflect that the community’s and Presidentโ€™s confidence in media has plummeted to all-time lows,โ€ she noted, as cited by NBC.
