Donald Trump Sets Unwanted Presidential Record

It has been a whirlwind journey for Donald Trump since taking the oath of office. Despite being elected into the presidency by the American public, he finds himself under the spotlight for less auspicious reasons.

Since January 20th, Trump’s presidency has been anything but conventional. After the 2024 election results declared him the winner, he took office with the expectation of significant public support. To many, his electoral achievements were seen as a decisive win, even across regions where Democrats traditionally held sway.

Yet, just a few months into his second term, Trump appears less popular than once perceived and he has unexpectedly broken a record – but for reasons he might not celebrate.

Gallup Poll Reveals Low Initial Approval Ratings

In a report released by Gallup, it was revealed that President Trump’s approval ratings have hit a historic low for his second term. Megan Brenan, a senior analyst at Gallup, reported, “At 47%, Trump’s initial job approval rating parallels the 45% observed during his first term, setting a new benchmark as the lowest for an elected president since 1953.”

She further elaborated, “Trump remains the only elected president with initial approval ratings below 50%. His disapproval rating of 48% is also higher than at the beginning of his first term in 2017 by three points.”

For comparisons, John F. Kennedy remains unrivaled in popularity at the start of his tenure. Following closely were Dwight Eisenhower in 1953 and Barack Obama in 2009, each with approval ratings of 68%.

Brenan commented, “Trump’s term begins as an exception compared to most presidents who typically enjoyed a ‘honeymoon period’ of high approval, which often diminished over time.”

She pointed out, “Unlike other presidents, Trump’s initial evaluations are more polarized, with the American public more inclined to disapprove than remain neutral.”

Intriguingly, other surveys indicate that Trump’s approval may be slightly better than reported.

Celebrity Departures Amid Political Turmoil

The election outcome prompted many celebrities to express intent to leave the U.S. Since Trump assumed office, notable figures have already relocated. Among the first was Eva Longoria, who now divides her time between Spain and Mexico.

In an interview with Marie Claire, Longoria shared her apprehension, stating, “If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place.” Fully aware of her privilege, she acknowledged, “I’m grateful for the chance to leave when things get tough.”

She expressed sympathy for the average American, saying, “Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re left in this dystopian scenario, and that’s what truly concerns me.”

Joining the exodus are Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi. The pair have taken residence in the UK, with no plans of returning to the U.S. while Trump is president.

An insider disclosed to The Wrap, “The couple is comfortably settled in the Cotswolds, with no intentions of moving back across the Atlantic – certainly not while Trump is steering the country.”
