Donald Trump, a long-time father, has children from multiple marriages. His youngest, Barron Trump, is now 19, and he joined the family in 2006. When Melania announced her pregnancy to Donald, the reply she received was far from what she might have hoped for.

Barron’s childhood was nothing short of extravagant. Born in 2006, a year after Donald and Melania’s wedding, he enjoyed the privileges of painting his own floor in Trump Tower and having his wishes effortlessly granted. Despite this lavish lifestyle, Melania, rooted in humble beginnings, was determined for Barron to also embrace a more grounded existence.
In her book, Melania describes a lively scene from Barron’s younger years, where her office was transformed into a colorful mess of books, with young Barron at the center, perched happily in his toy car. In a conversation with Fox, the former First Lady emphasized the importance of demonstrating to Barron the essence of a working life.
“I find it crucial to show our kids that we too are engaged in work. To exemplify the dynamics of real life,” she shared. “Let them see that we are industrious, and that we bring ideas to life. That was the lesson I aimed to impart to Barron.”
Before Melania, Donald had two marriages. His union with Ivana Trump spanned from 1977 to 1990, followed by a five-year marriage to Marla Maples.
From his marriage with Ivana, Trump welcomed three children: Ivanka, Donald Jr, and Eric. With Marla Maples, he had one daughter, Tiffany Trump. Though Barron is the youngest, Donald envisioned an even larger family.
Donald Trump’s Unexpected Reaction to Melania’s Pregnancy
In a chat with Fox and Friends, Melania mentioned Donald’s desire for more children post-Barron’s birth. However, Melania was content with their single child.
“I’ve always been quite content with just one child, while Donald was keen on expanding our family,” Melania recounted. “I explained, ‘I’m perfectly comfortable with one because our lives are quite hectic.’”
Barron is Melania’s only child, and learning about her pregnancy was a monumental moment. Naturally, she eagerly informed Donald, hoping to share in the excitement. Despite their recent marriage, the president’s initial response left her somewhat surprised.
In a People interview, Melania explained that Donald was taken aback by the pregnancy news.
“When he got home, I shared that he’d soon be a father. His initial reaction was one of shock, needing a moment to process it. Eventually, he was thrilled,” she shared with People.
Donald followed up by saying, “While having children was in our plans, the timing caught me off guard. It all happened rather swiftly.”
