Erin Andrews reveals her surrogate has suffered a miscarriage

During the latest episode of her podcast, โ€œCalm Down with Erin and Charissa,โ€ Erin Andrews shared some personal and emotional news with their listeners.

Two years after welcoming their first child into the world via a surrogate, Andrews and her husband, former NHL star Jarret Stoll, were expecting their second child via a surrogate again.

However, as Andrews revealed in the May 22 episode of the podcast, she and Stoll learned the morning of recording the episode that their surrogate had miscarried.

โ€œI have dealt with this before,โ€ Andrews shared through her tears. โ€œThings were going really, really well. Her little heartbeat and her numbers were really good. So much so, I even told you guys a couple weeks ago because we thought we had such good news.โ€

Andrews said she considered not recording the podcast in order to grieve with her family, but added that work is โ€œsuch a great safe spaceโ€ for her during times like this.

โ€œI’m also really, really good at suppressing my feelings, and work really helped me with that,โ€ Andrews explained. โ€œSo I think one of the things I’m so sad about is I’m gonna have to do a better job with dealing with my feelings with this, because the last time we had such a loss, I didn’t and I suffered with it.โ€

The sports reporter added that while recording the podcast, she was โ€œthinking about Taylor Swift song, โ€˜I Can Do It with a Broken Heart.โ€™ I’m really good at doing this with a broken heart.โ€

But for Andrews, who is a cervical cancer survivor, itโ€™s important for her to be open about how difficult infertility has been.

โ€œYou know, our journeys with two surrogates, because we did lose. We had lost with our first surrogate, and then luckily, with our second one, we had Mack,โ€ her and Stollโ€™s almost 2-year-old son who was born June 28, 2023.

โ€œItโ€™s really, really hard. I just said that to one of my girlfriends down there, down in my office, when I told her, she’s like, โ€˜God, it’s so freaking hard to have a baby.โ€™ So I decided I would be honest about this,โ€ Andrews continued.

While a guest on โ€œToday with Jenna and Friend,โ€ Andrews opened up about her decade long struggle with infertility, calling it โ€œ10 years of hell.โ€

โ€œPeople, you have no idea what they’re dealing with, and people deal more with loss than they do with the reward,โ€ Andrews continued on the podcast.

โ€œI know my husband’s having a difficult time, and I’m gonna go home and be with him. Then we’re gonna throw our little two year old in a pool, and I feel like squeezes are gonna feel a little different from him today.โ€
