The Facts of Life star, 59, shared the update in an Instagram post on Sunday, April 19, marking her first time posting on the platform in more than a month. While she did not go into extensive detail, Cohn’s message confirmed she has quietly been dealing with another cancer diagnosis.

Cohn is best known for her role as Natalie Green on The Facts of Life, where she starred from 1979 to 1988. Her character—an aspiring writer known for her humor, relatability, and emotional depth—quickly became a fan favorite. Natalie was notably the first of the core group of girls to lose her virginity on the show, a groundbreaking storyline at the time that helped cement the series’ reputation for tackling real-life issues.
Mindy Cohn shared that while she is keeping many details of her diagnosis private, she is feeling optimistic about what lies ahead.
The Facts of Life alum thanked the hospital staff who cared for her, along with her “phenomenal” oncology surgeon, expressing deep gratitude for their support throughout her treatment. She added that she plans to spend the next couple of weeks recovering before getting back to her normal routine.
Cohn struck an upbeat tone, telling fans she will be “recouping for another couple of weeks and then ready for my next adventure. onwards!”
At the time, Mindy Cohn told People magazine that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and later declared cancer-free after undergoing a double mastectomy, as well as chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
“I’ve always been an optimist,” she told People in 2017. “But the cancer metastasized. It kept spreading and coming back. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then it would. And then I’d wait for another shoe to drop, and it would. I was frustrated and enraged. I couldn’t control any of this. I couldn’t fix it.”
Mindy Cohn also told People she stepped away from Hollywood to focus on her cancer battle, but after being declared cancer-free, she said she was “feeling great” and “so ready to get back to work.”
In recent years, she has returned to acting, including a role on the Palm Royale, which stars Kristen Wiig and Ricky Martin.
