Shane MacGowan was an English-born Irish musician who was best known for being the lead vocalist of the Celtic punk band.

They had numerous hits, including ‘Dirty Old Town’ and ‘The Irish Rover’.

But undoubtedly, MacGowan is best known for the classic Christmas song ‘Fairytale of New York’, featuring the late Kirsty MacColl.

Last week, the songwriter’s fans were left heartbroken when it was announced he had passed away following a series of health problems.

MacGowan’s cause of death has reportedly been confirmed by his devastated wife, Victoria Mary Clarke.
