Famous Star Was Contacted To Be ‘The Golden Bachelorette’

A few months ago, there was some intriguing news from ABC as they were busy selecting women for the new show called ‘The Golden Bachelorette.’ Among those approached was the well-loved soap opera actress Susan Lucci, who many of you might remember for her iconic role as Erica Kane on the long-running show ‘All My Children.’

Susan Lucci went through a significant personal loss not too long ago when her beloved husband, Helmut Huber, passed away in 2022, at the age of 84. Their marriage was a wonderful one that lasted an incredible 52 years. Helmut, originally from Austria, was a chef and a prosperous businessman. The lovebirds tied the knot on September 13, 1969, and remained deeply in love until Helmut’s passing on March 28, 2022. Together, they were blessed with two children and enjoyed the company of several grandchildren.

Now 77 years old, Lucci opened up in an interview with People Magazine, where she shared that ABC had reached out to her with the idea of her becoming their very first Golden Bachelorette. It was quite an offer, but one she politely turned down. In her chat with People, Lucci also shared a little secret — she’s become quite the fan of ‘The Bachelor’ series. She even called ‘The Golden Bachelor’ her “new addiction,” revealing how much she enjoys the show.

As time went on, ABC made an announcement on May 14 about who the Golden Bachelorette would be for this fall. They selected Joan Vassos, a familiar face from the first season. At 61, Joan shared her excitement and clear intentions during a Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour podcast, letting everyone know just what she was looking for. “I really want love,” she confessed. “I want to have somebody in my life.”

Joan believes life is enriched when shared with a special someone. She is truly convinced of the joys that come from having a partner. Instead of turning to the usual dating websites, Joan finds this experience to be a more meaningful way to find that special connection.
