Kate Middleton has issued a statement after the Associated Press issued a “kill” notification, claiming the photo of herself and her children that was posted yesterday was “manipulated.”
On Instagram Stories, the Princess wrote, “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day,” again signing the statement, “C.”
Shortly after Kate Middleton shared a photo of herself and her children in honor of Mother’s Day, the Associated Press is reporting the photo of Princess Kate with her kids that went viral earlier today may have been manipulated.
In a statement shared with Sky News, the Associated Press claims the photo shows an “inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand”. It’s rare that the AP issues a “kill” notification, but did so for the photo that was reportedly taken by Prince William.
“The Associated Press initially published the photo, which was issued by Kensington Palace. The AP later retracted the image because at closer inspection, it appears that the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP’s photo standards. The photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand.”The Associated Press to Sky News
The move has again caused conspiracy theories to spiral out of control. The Royal Family has not yet commented on the photoshop snafu.
In honor of the United Kingdom’s Mother’s Day, Kate Middleton is speaking out via her family’s official social media page.
Alongside a brief message from the Princess Kate, she also shared a photo taken by Prince William in 2024 of herself with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
“Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” Kate wrote. “Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day,” she continued before signing her message, “C.”
Several days after Princess Kate Middleton was seen for the first time, driving around with her mom, Carole, following abdominal surgery, the Royal Family is speaking out again.
As calls for transparency continue, the family is standing on business and letting the world know that they will only be sharing what they feel is necessary with the world.
Just a week ago, the Royal Family confirmed their stance on how they will handle the health matters plaguing the Royal Family, telling the public, “We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales was out until after Easter and Kensington Palace would only be providing updates when something was significant.”
The spokesperson then said what so many members of the royal family have said over the last several weeks, that Princess Kate is “doing well.” The statement angered many people, leading them to speculate on why there was so much secrecy around her surgery and recovery.
Then, on March 4, photos of Princess Kate Middleton were taken for the first time since she underwent the abdominal surgery that left her hospitalized for nearly two weeks. And while Prince William has continued on with his royal duties, as Kate continued to recover in private, rumors and conspiracy theories about Kate have gotten out of control.
Unfortunately, the single paparazzi photo only seemed to fuel the speculation and conspiracies floating around online. And now the Royal Family is speaking out again.
In a statement given to People, a spokesperson revealed that Prince William doesn’t care and isn’t concerned about the outside noice regarding his wife’s recovery.
“His focus is on his work and not on social media,” a palace spokesperson told People.
And this isn’t the only health issue the Royal Family is dealing with and choosing to stay quiet about. King Charles shared his cancer diagnosis with the world, only to refrain from sharing anything further about his battle, including the type of cancer he is battling.
As royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People, “Everybody feels unsettled by uncertainty, and there is too much uncertainty that is surrounding the monarchy right now.”
Smith adds that it is interesting the King and his son aren’t taking a play out of the later Queen’s playbook in these moments. “Queen Elizabeth used to say, ‘I need to be seen to be believed.’ It is important for Charles and his reign for the public to know a little bit more.”
