Former Meghan Markle Aide Breaks Silence on Bullying Allegations

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex exchanged vows in 2018, capturing the hearts of millions with their grand ceremony. Meghan Markle, in particular, quickly gained public admiration. However, after just two years as part of the royal family, the couple made a surprising move. They decided to leave the UK and settle in the United States.

On January 8, 2020, Harry and Meghan took to their official Instagram to announce their decision.

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” they stated.

They added, “We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”

While the Queen seemed accepting of their choice, it was then-Prince Charles who struggled with the decision.

The situation intensified with their candid interview with Oprah, where they aired grievances against the royal family. Among the most serious accusations was a claim that a senior royal questioned Archie’s potential skin color. Meghan also shared that her appeals for help with mental health struggles were dismissed.

The revelations seemed endless. Harry spoke on the Armchair Expert podcast about a “cycle” of “genetic pain,” implying a strained relationship with his father, Charles.

Initially, the identity of the senior royal involved remained withheld, but writer Christopher Andersen later alleged in his book, Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, that it was Charles who made the offhand comment about Archie.

Andersen claimed, “The comment was innocent, with Prince Charles pondering to Camilla about hair and eye color—not a racial insinuation. Palace insiders, however, reportedly manipulated this into something more controversial.”

This misunderstanding reportedly added more tension to what was a heated atmosphere. “Harry sought understanding from Charles and William, only to be told he was overreacting,” Andersen said, adding more fuel to the fire.

Following these dramatic events, the couple released a Netflix series and Harry penned his revealing memoir, Spare.

The couple’s flight to California was memorable, with an emotional exchange between Harry and their young son, Archie, captured on tape. Although depicted as a moment of liberation, some experts offered a different interpretation.

Body language analyst Darren Stanton commented on their apparent anxiety during the journey. “Despite being high above, Harry and Meghan seemed panicked, speaking softly as if to avoid being overheard,” he remarked.

He noted, “The couple looked exhausted, grappling with high stress, with Meghan’s mother visibly empathetic towards them.”

Stanton reflected, “For Harry, it was like a game of cat-and-mouse—a frantic, ticking-clock escape.”

Despite Meghan’s claims of mistreatment by royal family members and the media, allegations of her own misconduct arose.

In 2021, The Times published a report revealing that Meghan faced accusations of bullying during her time at Kensington Palace. These revelations came from an email by Jason Knauf, then acting communications secretary, outlining concerns about Meghan’s treatment of staff.

Knauf’s email reportedly detailed circumstances leading to the departure of two personal assistants.

“I am very concerned that the Duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household. She seems intent on always having someone in her sights,” Knauf reportedly conveyed.

Subsequent to these allegations, Knauf resigned. Meghan, on facing these claims, expressed regret, labelling them a “wholly false narrative.” Buckingham Palace nonetheless launched an investigation into these reports.

Post-investigation, the Palace updated its HR policies, but specifics of the changes were undisclosed.

Valentine Low’s book, Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, brought more tales of troubling allegations against Meghan.

Low detailed instances of staff feeling mistreated, quoting insiders who described them as “broken” by the experiences.

One notable incident recounted involved Markle allegedly chastising an employee harshly in front of peers.

“If there was anyone else to ask for this task, I wouldn’t be asking you,” Meghan reportedly told the worker.

This distress continued, with another staffer purportedly “completely destroyed” after their time with Meghan.

Yet, as the Sussexes returned to their new lives, another voice emerged: Samantha Cohen, former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth II.

Cohen, deeply involved in the internal investigations, disclosed no further details but highlighted staffing struggles, reinforcing turnover issues confrontations with Harry and Meghan.

She noted she stayed beyond her term, struggling to find a successor; even after onboarding a replacement, they resigned mid-tour in Africa.

According to Low, Cohen faced verbal pressure before and during a pivotal Australian tour.

Friends conveyed that working with the couple felt like handling “teenagers,” describing the environment as challenging and strained.

Despite these reports, Cohen noted persistent efforts to advocate for Harry and Meghan, even while enduring personal distress.
