Founding Member of Rock Band Formed in the 1950s Dies at 84
Back in the 1950s, a group of brothers got together to form a rock band. The original members were Rudolph, Ronald, O’Kelly and Vernon Isley.
The band was called The Isley Brothers, and even after Vernon died following a car accident at age 13, the band continued on. Future members included brothers Ernie and Marvin Isley as well as Chris Jasper, the brother-in-law of Rudolph.
Now, TMZ reports that Rudolph Isley has died at the age of 84 years old. His cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but a source who spoke to TMZ claims that it’s suspected that Rudolph may have had a heart attack.

The post continued with the family requesting privacy and urging fans to “hold your loved ones close.” The brothers ended the post by sharing, “We will miss our brother but we know he’s in a better place. Forever in our hearts.”
Upon hearing the news of Rudolph’s death, his brother Ronald told CNN , “There are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother. Our family will miss him. But I know he’s in a better place.”
Some of The Isley Brothers biggest hits include “Twist & Shout,” “It’s Your Thing,” and “Fight the Power.” The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, following two Grammy wins during their music career.
In the 1980s, Rudolph stepped away from The Isley Brothers to make a big career change. He decided to follow his dream of becoming a Christian minister.
