Valli’s career began in the early 1950s when he joined various bands, but his big break came in 1960 when he formed The Four Seasons with Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi. Their first hit, “Sherry,” released in 1962, skyrocketed to the top of the charts, followed by a string of hits including “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Rag Doll.”
In addition to his work with The Four Seasons, Valli also enjoyed a successful solo career. His solo hits include “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “My Eyes Adored You,” and the theme song from the movie “Grease,” which became a massive hit in 1978. These songs showcased Valli’s versatility as a performer.
Valli’s influence extends beyond his music group. The story of The Four Seasons was made into the Broadway musical “Jersey Boys,” which started in 2005. The show, which tells the group’s rags-to-riches story, was a critical and commercial success. Later the musical was adapted into a film directed by Clint Eastwood in 2014.
