Gwen Stefani’s Children Are Embracing Stepdad Blake Shelton, Who Has Vowed To ‘Invest’ In Them

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani met on the set of the popular singing competition show, “The Voice,” where they were both coaches and quickly developed a close friendship that eventually turned into romance. One of the reasons Shelton and Stefani’s relationship captured the public’s attention is their seemingly unlikely pairing. Shelton is a country boy from Oklahoma, while Stefani is a California girl who made her name in the pop music world.

Shelton is a country music singer and songwriter who has released numerous hit songs throughout his career, including “Austin,” “Some Beach,” and “God’s Country.” He was also named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2017. Stefani is a pop singer and songwriter who rose to fame in the 1990s as the lead singer of the band No Doubt and has also released several successful solo albums, including “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” and “This Is What the Truth Feels Like.”

Shelton and Stefani’s relationship quickly blossomed into something more. They made their public debut as a couple in November 2015 when they were spotted holding hands at a Halloween party. Another reason Shelton and Stefani’s relationship has been the subject of so much fascination is their history. Both singers went through high-profile divorces around the same time – Shelton from fellow country singer Miranda Lambert and Stefani from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. Stefani had three sons with Rossdale before their divorce was finalized in 2016.

In October 2020, Shelton proposed to Stefani inside a chapel that he’d built himself on his Oklahoma ranch and by July 2021, the pair were married. Since then, the couple has been living in wedded bliss, and Shelton became a wonderful and caring stepfather to Stefani’s children.

Entering fatherhood was a big deal for Shelton, but he embraced the role as a stepfather to Stefani’s sons – Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14 and Apollo Rossdale, 8 – with open arms. He even reportedly sought their blessing before proposing to Stefani. He told radio station KFrog:

“I take it very serious, but I also have a blast with it. I don’t take it so serious that I’m not enjoying this time because I really am, especially now that we’re five years into this thing. I can’t imagine my life without these kids now.”

The country music star also told People magazine he had learned more about himself after becoming a stepdad.

“They’ve taught me something about myself that I never knew: I’m more than just a country singer or a goofy guy. I’m someone they actually lean on, and that’s not a responsibility that I ever had and not something that I ever considered even being into,” Shelton said.

He added:

“It’s a different kind of self-worth. Maybe it’s the opposite of self-worth because you put yourself way down on the rung, and they move up ahead of you.”

Shelton is confident that this next step in his life is bigger than him already.

“If I walked away from my career at this time, the only thing that I run the risk of is having regrets that I’m missing out on some more important things in life. For now, that’s our kids,” the singer added.

Stefani, meanwhile, admitted she was more careful about bringing Shelton into her children’s lives. She told Today:

“I think there was a lot to consider when you have so many people involved. Children, and their hearts, and everybody in my family (and) his family, we all went through a lot together.”

However, Stefani’s fears were soon put to rest, and her blended family appear to have melded together perfectly. The pair seem to share a love of the simple things in life, like spending time at home with their family and pets.

Stefani, in particular, often gushes about her spouse and shares special moments between him and her three sons. On March 8, 2020, Stefani posted sweet photos of her and Shelton, who had his arms around Kingston and Zuma. Two months later, on May 26, 2020, she shared an adorable clip of Shelton giving Kingston a big’ ol kiss on his birthday. On Father’s Day that same year, Stefani shared a number of photos of Shelton with the kids through the years, including some of when Apollo was still a toddler. “happy father’s day @blakeshelton thank u for helping me raise these boys!! #weloveyou!” Stefani wrote in the caption.

Stefani repeated the trend for Father’s Day in 2022 and posted more photos and clips of the kids enjoying life with their stepfather. The first photo was a portrait of the entire family that exuded warmth, laughter and happiness. Another photo showed Apollo asleep in Shelton’s arms, while one clip showed Zuma and Shelton playing catch outside. “happy father’s day @blakeshelton we all love u sooooo much god really gave me you for the ups and downs,” the caption read.

It’s clear Shelton has found a place in his stepchildren’s hearts and that he and Stefani are nothing short of ecstatic about their beautiful blended family. Shelton told People while his career can always take a backseat temporarily, family never will.

“I’ve accomplished more than anything I would ever imagine and made plenty of money, but you can’t buy time back. (Family) is what I want to invest in now.”
