Hilaria Baldwin is speaking up about the difficulties her family is facing as prosecutors prepare to charge her husband, Alec Baldwin, with involuntary manslaughter after the “Rust” movie set shooting.
Baldwin opened the Sunday episode of her “Witches Anonymous” podcast, by being transparent about her and her family’s feelings as well as thanking others for support without getting into specifics.
“It’s been an emotional time for my family,” Baldwin said. “(I) want to express to you how grateful I am for your support and your kindness … quite honestly I think without it, we would crumble.”
While filming a scene for “Rust” in Santa Fe, Alec Baldwin pulled the trigger of a prop gun that went off and killed 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on Oct 21, 2021. The fatal shot also wounded the film’s director, Joel Souza.
The Santa Fe district attorney announced on Jan. 19 that the actor would be charged with involuntary manslaughter by the end of the month. If convicted, Baldwin could face up to five years in jail.
Hilaria Baldwin said on her podcast that during this time she doesn’t “feel so strong,” especially as she manages to deal with these public circumstances while raising the seven children she and the actor share.
“Kids are sponges, and certain conversations are not always age appropriate,” she said. “We cannot deny that they don’t feel the energy and pick up on certain things in the family and at home”
The movie’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, will also be charged with involuntary manslaughter. David Halls, who was the assistant director, handed the gun to Baldwin on set before it was fired. Prosecutors said Halls reached a plea agreement that includes a suspended sentence and six months of probation.
