Hollywood Stuntman Tony McFarr, Who Worked With Greats like Chris Pratt and Jon Hamm, Dead at 47

Beloved Hollywood stunt double Tony McFarr has passed away.

McFarr often worked with Hollywood living legend actor Chris Pratt. According to Variety, he was just 47 years old at the time of his passing.

In an interview with TMZ, McFarr’s mom confirmed that McFarr died in his home in Florida. She did not share his cause of death, revealing that the family is still unaware of “the exact circumstances of his death.”

Donna continued telling TMZ that her son’s death “is unexpected and shocking,” adding that McFarr was “active and healthy.”

As Variety reports, McFarr first worked as Pratt’s stunt double in 2015 on the set of Jurassic World. They continued to work together in the years after on Passengers in 2016, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2017, and in 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Tony McFarr is also known for his work The Hunger Games movies, Jumanji, Captain America, and more.

Pratt shared a statement alongside several pictures of him and McFarr on sets together.

“Devastated to hear about the loss of my friend and former stunt double Tony McFarr. We did several movies together,” Pratt shared on his Instagram Story.

“We golfed, drank whiskey, smoked cigars, and spent endless hours on set. I’ll never forget his toughness.”

Pratt continued, remembering when McFarr “took a nasty shot to the head (in the title sequence of Guardians 2) and got several staples in his head – he came right back to work ready to go again.”

“He was an absolute stud,” Pratt wrote. “He was always a gentleman and professional. He’ll be missed.”

The actor concluded, writing, “My prayers go out to his friends and family, especially his daughter.”
