Riley Keough “is unhappy” that Lisa Marie Presley’s confidence is being questioned by Priscilla Presley. According to a source who spoke to ET, Riley believes that Priscilla’s objection to the late Lisa Marie’s will violates “her mom’s desires.”
The source said that Riley wants to keep the family together and preserve Lisa Marie’s legacy, but she believes her grandmother’s actions are further dividing the family. She finds it sad since she wants to be friends with Priscilla, but they are not currently close.
According to the source, Lisa Marie and Priscilla “did not have a healthy or close connection” before Priscilla passed away, and their relationship was “extremely problematic.”
According to the insider, “Lisa Marie was struggling, and it clearly put a strain on her relationship with her mother.” “Priscilla Marie always felt like she was attempting to control Lisa Marie,”
The source claims that Lisa Marie “always intended for her children to inherit her trust” in light of this. Benjamin, who passed away in July 2020, was also raised by Lisa Marie.
The insider claims that the late singer’s “children meant the world to her, and she would do anything for them,” adding that “Lisa always wanted Riley and Benjamin to be the beneficiaries of the trust and that was no secret.”
Following Lisa Marie’s passing on Jan. 12, her representative informed ET that her three children Riley, 33, and the twins, Harper and Finley, 14, would inherit Graceland, the former home of her father, Elvis Presley.
Riley and Benjamin were later revealed to be co-trustees of Lisa Marie’s trust in 2016. Riley’s appointment, however, is being disputed by Priscilla because “there are many difficulties surrounding” it, according to her.
Joel Weinshanker, a managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, spoke out in support of Riley continuing to serve as a trustee in the wake of Lisa Marie’s passing despite the legal dispute.
“Elvis left his young daughter everything when he passed away. He did so with the knowledge that she would be the one to carry on his legacy “He mentioned this while making an appearance on Elvis Radio on SiriusXM. “I can assure you that Lisa Marie has consistently looked out for Elvis’ best interests, regardless of what else was going on in her life or career… regardless of what someone else was trying to accomplish or what another family member [was attempting to do].”
“We only want to consider Elvis’s best interests and what Lisa would have preferred. She was certain Riley was there at all times “Added Joel. “No one has any questions about it since Lisa has spoken about it, there is a ton of written information, and she has discussed it with a lot of her friends. There was never a question, and anyone who is speaking in a different manner is not speaking with Elvis, Lisa, or most definitely Riley’s best interests in mind.”
The incident was addressed by Priscilla in a statement to ET on Friday.
“Elvis and I have a deep love for one other. Lisa is the fruit of our union, “added Priscilla. Anyone who holds a different opinion is disrespecting Elvis’ legacy and the legacy of the family, according to the statement.
“There is someone attempting to speak on our family’s behalf who has purchased their way into the business. This person does not speak for Elvis or for our family, “She continued, but she didn’t say to whom she was addressing. “Please give us the time we need to resolve this together. I beg you to ignore “the noise.” I will continue to pave the way forward with respect, honesty, dignity, integrity, and love, just as I have always done for the legacy of Elvis Presley, our family, and the fans.”
Priscilla didn’t mention who she was referring to in her statement.
