How to keep spiders out of your home once and for all!

In most homes, spiders are among the last visitors you want in your home. These unwanted guests most often nest in the corners of our homes and it’s not always easy to chase them away.

However, you can keep them out of your home thanks to the very effective anti-pest techniques you can apply.

How to effectively keep spiders out of the house?

We are often tempted to use chemicals to repel or eliminate spiders. But it is possible to keep them out of the house by applying environmentally friendly tips and methods that have nothing to do with conventional products on the market.

Use lemon essential oil to repel spiders

Spiders don’t like the smell of lemon at all. To exploit this natural and especially inexpensive insecticide, we suggest mixing 1 liter of water with 1 tablespoon of lemon essential oil.

Once you have the scented repellent, pour it into a spray bottle and then spray the areas where pests nest. Note that it is best to avoid color-painted walls as these can be damaged by contact with lemon acid. If you don’t have lemon essential oil, you can use lemon juice.

In this case, it is advisable to use a large pure amount of this citrus fruit so that it can smell strong.

Other essential oils such as lavender, tea tree, and peppermint are equally effective in keeping spider mites out of the house. These are great alternatives to lemon.

Keep spiders out of the house with white vinegar

White vinegar is the natural ingredient par excellence for repelling spiders and all kinds of parasitic insects.

Mix equal parts water and white vinegar and put the mixture in a spray bottle and then spray directly onto the areas where spiders tend to settle. For example, places like doors, windowsills, ventilation grills, or window corners.

Keep spiders away with chestnuts

Spiders don’t like the smell of chestnuts. Place some around your home where pests nest.

Use cedar to scare spiders away

One of the best natural spider repellents you can use is cedar wood. By putting enough of it in different places in your home, spiders will leave. Also, remember that cedar protects your clothes against moths.

Keep spiders away with the combination of coconut oil and vinegar

A generous amount of a combination of white vinegar and coconut oil is formidable when it comes to keeping spiders out of your home. For this, make a mixture consisting of one cup of white vinegar and half a cup of coconut oil, then pour the solution into a spray bottle.

You can spray your natural repellent on various areas of your home, in your outdoor space, or even in your garage.

Repel spiders with a combination of essential oil and dishwashing liquid
Another natural and effective spider repellent is to mix 5 drops of clove essential oil and another 5 drops of liquid soap with a little water.

Mix the ingredients well and then pour everything into a spray bottle. Mix and then spray the places where spiders come, such as the window, patio, or garden.

First, try the solution on a hidden surface, such as a small piece of upholstery, before using it on larger areas. Indeed, oils can stain surfaces.

These are all safe alternatives to the insecticides on the market that have the added benefit of perfuming our interiors!
